6000s celebration - A Blast!
GenevaOnLine's 6000th member celebration, just two month after the 5000th... what an achievement!

Wonderfully baroque (and much debated lol) venue in downtown Geneva, great crowd, good bar and music. It was really nice to meet so many people and see so many new faces.

Nir & Oded, a warm thank you for this wonderful time and great job!

well, i enjoyed it! as everyone saw, i'm sure, tinkie and i were the first on the dancefloor and i loved it! the music was mostly good, although it was a bit quiet at the beginning, and yeah, i think perhaps tinkie's idea on the seating area for people who want to talk and a separate dancefloor makes sense.

what happened to the GOL oscars????

I had a fun night. Music was a bit unfortunate to start off with, but got better and better (and after Nir made his 'opening speech' it made a lot more sense). The location is fantastic; nice and central, on the tram line, and a cool venue indeed.

The only shock was finding that a glass of cola was 10chf. OMG! I know GOL needs to cover costs, and I am sincerely in favour of GOL events making a profit so that they can pay for the site etc. but that is toooo much.

But, that said, I still really liked the event. There seemed to be quite a different crowd there; it was kind of nice to see new faces along with some of those I know. I made some new friends, and enjoyed some good dancing.

Thanks again for a great time.

She's just in a bad mood 'cause she had to wake up to walk, rather than snoring in her hangover until 5p.m. :-)
The party was great, the people were great, the venue was great (btw, it's not been used as a church for some 20 years already!!!), I could profit the low music at the beginning to be introduced to new people and I didn't drink enough to need a bathroom, so... no complaints! ;-)
I'm just sorry I couldn't show you the light, due to the failing Microphone.
I'm sure it was sabotage. We'l find the evil responsible and make him/her pay the drinks at next party. Help us with the witch hunt, if you want paid drinks! :-)

:) ok I know that the title of this post is cheesy, but given the location it kinda fit :)
So, finally my hypocrit self as stated in another post, did her researches and found out that the temple wasn't used as a church anymore .. so ... i decided that given that I am on highway to hell anyway .. I could just show up and go there anyway. First stop was AJ's housewarming party ... really nice and yummy food. Great drinks .. had to leave for some prior engagements ... that of course ended up at the 6000 party.
I liked the venue, it was central and pretty cool. Ok the sound system wasn't that great ... and we couldn't hear Granny's speech ...
True the music at the beginning was in the backgroun to chat with other ppl ... and i kinda liked it, hAd some time to catch up with everyone i knew, and have a drink ....
As tinkie said it's true that we don't get to know many new ppl this way .. but ..i guess that's what smaller events like wine and tapas and afterwork drinks etc .. are for .. right??
For the rest ,,,
I didn;t use the ladies but i have been told the queue was very long ...
and as for the drink price ..yeah i was shocked, for the 10CHF for the coke ... i heard the price of alchoolic drinks was the ssame thou,

All in all .. I had a blast. Thanks to my fellow non-stop dancers (sthephen, Frank, Alex, Katri and Granny) I had a really great time and dacnined till my feet hurt!!

Vale ;)
See ya all at the halloweeen party!

Thanks for the feedback.

The drink prices were CHF 15 for long drinks, - which is cool - and CHF 10 for all the rest (beer, water, soft drinks, etc)- which I fully agree is too expensive. I think soft drinks should not cost more than CHF 5-6 at a GoL or Sindy party.

The soft drinks were expensive this time cos we were not successful enough in negotiating them down. The bar was outsourced to a 3rd party (who also rented the church for us), who works (like the rest of the world) for profit. With the high costs they had on this event, they had to increase prices. We agreed to it, knowing that only with such prices would the party make any financial sense.

We assumed, knowing that the vast majority of our members go for the long drinks at the parties, higher prices on soft drinks would be less of an issue.

We will insist more on fair drink prics at the next party.

for CHF10. Trying to avoid alcohol these days. Way too expensive for water but the party was great!

Thanks to the organizers.

Thanks Nir, I figured it must have been something like that. I suppose that sort of thing hits me because I don't tend to drink much alcohol, I maybe have one long drink and then drink soft drink for the rest of the night. 15 for a long drink isn't so bad; certainly comparable to many other places.

My tip (but shhh don't tell the bar company) for next time is that the fountain just outside the door has drinkable water at an unbeatable price; free!
