Hello,

Please if anyone knows anything about a purse (purple medium sized, with round metallic handle) please let me know. I would be most appreciative. My entire life was in there-my keys, all my banking cards, passport, permit b, bus abbonement, license, Spanish national id card, health insurance card, etc. This is devastating. Please if you know anything let me know. I stayed until after the party when everyone had left but could not find it.

It was a real shame since the music from the party last night was so good and I came with the intention to have a good time :(

I regret not having made it for the workshop to have learnt how to move Bollywood-style to the Banghra tunes, but that is not to say you would have noticed the difference if I had!
U asked about the venue - There really were a lot of people, and the venue accommodated them well, I thought. Appreciated having the sofas all around on which to throw jackets etc, and oneself for a rest. And I needed to sit down after shock of being asked CHF27 for a Cranberry and Vodka though...

Hey Ehsaan, You did a great job with the music. Having been to many of these bollywood parties back in California, I am always disappointed when I go to ones here. But you didn't disappoint. Although, I have to say that the sound system could have been better. Using those tiny little speakers in the back and only one large speaker was not enough. And don't want to criticize too much because it was indeed a good party but (there is always a but) mixing needs some work too. Gaps between two songs and mismatching beats is not fun.

But once again ..overall... I and my friends had great time. As the crowd thinned a little it became more fun with soem room to dance. Will definitely attend the next one.

The same drinks that were 25+ CHF in the dance hall were 15 in the other area. I guess the organizers had to make money some how.

I am thrilled to read all the great reviews, and that the event was good. Congrats Ehsaan!

The event was organised by Ehsann, and I'm sure he'll comment on the drink prices, but I wanted to add 3 points on the topic:

1. Neither Ehsaan, nor glocals.com, made a cent off the event. So the drink prices were not increased by us / Ehsann.

2. I know that Ehsann got the venue owner to commit to selling long drinks (like Vodka redbull) at CHF 15 the whole night. I was real disppointed to read the owner did not respect it. For what it's worth, I know Ehsaan will not go easy on the owner for this.

3. The key lesson here for future activity organisers:
- get venue owners to commit to reduced prices IN WRITING before the event
- follow up closely, during the event, to ensure the agreed prices are those being asked

Dear Friends,
The prices for the drinks were negotiated well in advance and just to make it sure I went to the venue that afternoon along with Yumiko and it was agreed that the long drinks would be for CHF15 and beer for CHF8.
Being in Switzerland, I thought they would be honest, neither with I check with the Fellow Glocalers. But I am really disappointed with this behavior of the Nirvana people.
I will call him and take up this issue.
THESE are the lessons learnt, and next party will be organized in a much better way.

Bollywood Night, thru the eyes of Mini YouMeCo:

I arrived slightly after 9pm with my twin (oooo) from Lausanne who came for this occassion. There were already a good number of people already present. By the time the dance lessons began, the crowd was quite full around the dance floor, and by 11, 12 midnight the place was sooo packed you could barely move, and it was so steaming hot you just had to step out once in awhile despite the blistering cold for some fresh air. By 1:30am the crowd from the other party came by and soon I saw many familiar faces popping in and getting into the music as well.

Depsite having seen snipits of Bollywood dance scenes (usually during our Curry night out at Royal India where they have a TV screen and a music video stream playing in the background), I don't think i've ever listened to a full song, much less an entire night of Bollywood music. You could clearly see in the reaction by the members of the Indian community which songs were particularly popular as the sound of joy and dancing activity would heat up ever so often. But one thing was for certain, everywhere you looked, in front of the DJ, in the corner pockets of the room, young and older, everyone really seemed to be enjoying the music. At one point, it even looked like Karoki night because people were going up to Ehsaan and writing down requests for songs to play. What was more impressive is that (I'm assuming) he was able to deliver at least some of their requests.

I enjoyed seeing all the beautiful ladies dressed in the traditional sari dresses and beautiful makeups. (BTW, I could really use some makeup tips if anyone would be willing to offer lessons! =^_^=) OK, so I didn't master Bollywood dancing in one night, but I have never danced as much as last night. Exercising and arobics was never my thing, however this type of dancing I can quite easily get into. (Say...what an idea if gyms provided arobics with Bollywood dancing, non?)

As for the drink situation, it was evident that the bar folks did not have a very good handle of the drink requests flooding in. There were so many people at one point and not enough people serving the drinks and they looked quite flustered. Perhaps next time we should have a separate price list for the basic drinks on offer. Also, picking a place that can accomodate a cloak room that's bigger than the size of my bar counter might be nice.

**On a final note: I hope whoever left the place with this girl's purse (or knows who may have) has the decency to return her valuables.

Thanks Ehsaan for coming out to this side of the lake, and then making authentic curry for lunch the next day! My hallway still smells of curry.

Thanks for organising this great party !
It really rocked, and that was a good kick on “cultural imperialism” like (events with only commercial music or latin music, etc…and no other kind with the pretext that people don’t understand the lyrics).It was a good way to show that Indian music is not only traditional (and that’s the same for Russian music)
I hope there will be another Bollywood party, but there are some points to improve :

1) There was nobody to filter at the entrance. I don’t mean there should be someone like in Geneva disco (booo) but only for making sure it does not become OVERcrowded and that some disturbing kids don’t come to bring disaster.

2) Please put a place for the coats !! It’s getting colder and colder these days and nights and we cannot go outside without coats. It was a mess at the entrance, but when I was leaving, I had the horrible surprise of not finding my coat at the place I let it. SOMEONE RUDE took my coat and put it at the other side of the room !! Defenetly i would not have gone out without it, as I’m not Mother Teresa and that the coldness out make sick...

Either way the Bollywood party makes Geneva better !!!

Yes, I agree with you!!!
There were a few things that were not taken care of, but this was because of lack of experience of organizing a party in Geneva and also the Venue was new not only for me but most of the glocals.
These was just the first Bollywood party organized and I(we) have learnt so many lessons.

Lessons I learnt

1) Get a bigger venue with some more breathing space
2) Make sure there are a few people on the door to welcome/filter people along with the name tags
3) Prices for the drinks were negotiated, but the Nirvana people did not keep their word. Thought they would be honest. This has to be communicated to the Glocalers in the future.
4) I catered to MOST of the requests, but a few people were disappointed since I did not play their favorite song. Next time I will come prepared with a broader variety.

And I look forward to suggestions from you all...

Dont get me wrong, I am not normally so miserly, but there are times when a line has to be drawn. I tried to get a drink and was told to pay a ridiculous price(good thing I asked before they mixed it!) But Ehsaan made up for my thirst with great music and lots of energy and smiles. So all in all, I would definately do it again, except, next time, I will know to pop on to the other side, the smoky area:-) which I was not aware was better priced.
When is the next one???

Must say was a hell of a kicking party. Well done. I think we all had a great time. I've read the posting, pitty for the abuse from the local owner side, but I can assure you people, I know Ehsaan from Z?rich and there was definetly no back thought's and intention to overcharge the guests. Thank you for you positive energy, your warm heart and spirit. Keep on that way you're on the right track.

The venue was simply amazing. Nice music (so nice DJ), nice people. I liked the little session of dancing. Yes, please, go ahead, come back to us. As it was in Geneva centre it was easy to find. And to do it at the Nirvana was just...logical.

But in my point of you it was to crowded, and we did not have enough finger food :-)
My Indian guest was happy, cause there's nothing really done for this community.
