Hehe...didnt know quite where 2 put this...Activities Reviews or here...so I put it in both ; )
Well a bunch of us GOL ppl decided to check out the hype on Brokeback Mountain...it was cool to watch this movie 2gether, esp wen Quijote showed up with "the straight guy's guide to watching Brokeback Mountain"..extremely helpful.
Good movie, the acting was superb, Ang Lee kept all his HongKong style direction in curb so we had a really nice love story to follow. Some of us were not too sure that the Oscar accolades are well-deserved tho and I wud agree. The movie tells the story but little else...or maybe I had little to relate to a couple of gay cowboys?
Best parts for me?
1. Michelle Williams' acting
2. "I wish I knew how to quit you..." line fm Jake Gyllanhal
3. Ennis smelling Jack's shirt while on his ranch.
4. Double D going out and coming back in to try to sit with another group of people, in a completely different row.
5. Turi's reactions to the movie.
: )

One of my reactions: Thanks to Tigger now I know what I'll never do in my life: COWBOY and RODEO!

Best Parts:
1. "Sometimes I miss you so much I can hardly stand it" Jack Twist
2. Ennis del Mar crying and punching the wall on the side road
3. Elma del Mar reaction in the kitchen
Bottom line amazing acting!! The movie seemed a little slow. But the love story goes so much beyond the simple cowboy gay relationship.
The fear of embracing a feeling that seems bigger and stronger than oneself and being in the situation in which no matter which choice one takes there will be sufference
After Jack and Ennis "nigth" one of their sheeps was eaten by supposingly wolfs...a very simple metaphor of what their act would have produced in their life (and did with Jack).
Maybe we should all imagine of being in love and then realize that we cannot be with the other person not because love is gone or because we live apart, but simply because society has never thought us that that could be an alternative option in our life.
