A lovely sunday to go out with some friends to the lovely town of Yvoire...did anybody spot the flying deer? (I still dont get it, y do they fly here? Is it the water???)
We had 3 boys and 7 girls, making Luca a very happy man amongst the roses : )
All virgin (or almost virgin) to GOL activities...Richard, PeterB, Kama, Sweetswede + friend, CDN Sarah, Daizymeila, Crazy Llama, Luca and Tigger took off from G'va around 130 and landed (without any flying deer incident) around 200pm in Yvoire.
After stuffing ourselves with filet de perche (yummy yum yum!) and walking around freezing our unmentionables off, we had a lovely crepe stopover and added a couple more kgs b4 heading home. The weather cooperated and so did the seagulls (or lakegulls?) by not pooping on us. We also discovered a historic incident of note, meteorite hit in Yvoire, according to Prof Luca, the inaccurate historian.
Thnx for coming guys, I made some nice new friends (and got 2 know some of u even better)...I have the pics, email me if u wan'em

Thnaks alot to Tigger and Luca for organizing this event.
As for the 10 people that joined, Come on!!!
We already know you are gutsy and outgoing cause you joined the activity.
Now tell us how it was.
Did you guys have a good time? Did you meet cool people? Were your hosts gracious?
We want to know...

Yes, I was that person. One of the few who braved a chilly hangover to baldly go where no man has gone before. It was a perfect day, though Luca looked tired and drawn, can't imgine why? We drove through France for what seemed like days but in fact was only half an hour (we even had to stop for refueling en-route, we were taking no chances). Once in the glittering magic that is Epcot....no sorry scub that...Yvoire we hastily got down to the business of tasting and devouring 'Perches de Lac Leman' washed down with suitable liquid refreshment and good banter (as they say). The restaurant was full but the crafty organisational skills of our hosts had been utilised to book early. Just in time too as the place closes down in the winter, probly frightened of people falling over in the snow and sueing them for damages.
After a fine two, maybe even three helpings of fish 'n chips (there were extra fries so we had a job but we managed it. We discovered the salad later on but that's another story.) we took off on a whistle-stop tour of Yvoire. Naturally this was a painful process for the guys as most of the girls wanted to go shopping. But we eventually made it safely down to the port where the gracefull Tigger turned into Austin Powers and produced a loaded camera, ready for action. We posed, we smiled, we even had our pictures taken. But all the time that nagging doubt.....would we all make it back to Geneva? Could these be the last of the few?
Demanding photo shoots demand a demanding lifestyle and a demanding diet. So it was off to the crepe house. It was full. So those of us who demanded them queued up at 'Crepes-to-Go' and there we stood blocking the street watching for runaway buggies, kids with gooey food and seagulls. We had inadvertently started a rush at 'Crepes-to-Go' so we decided to move on. As the sun sank low over the lake we returned to the cars and with a heavy heart fired up the engines for the return journey including the potentially dangerous re-entry procedure.
As evening drifted into night we returned to the safety of Geneva and the bright lights of home. But it was not over, no sirreee Bob. Skating, yes Skating. It was insane, it was crazy it was CHF7.00 Deal. Not for me the giddy feeling of Hospital lights so I watched, I like to watch.....but back to the skating. Luca was a natural, not necessarily a skater and we never did find what he was a natural at but he was very entertaining. And definately game for a laugh. Well Done Luca!
After some minutes at the ice rink we decided we had earned a good drink and the rest is a mystery, a blurr in the vortex of time, though I do recall a good 2-for-1 deal on a chicken dinner.
A great day was had by all, a big thank you to Luca who organised the event admirably supported by Tigger. See, that's what YOU missed.
Cya next time!

It was fun - a very pleasant sunday afternoon outing in nice company.
I can only guess that the flying deer are hibernating for the winter as they remained scarce all afternoon, despite the warnings ;-)
Thanks loads to Luca and Tigger for organising the afternoon.

thank you luca and tigger for organising this event (i want photos! : )) I have only just now, a few weeks after it happened, discovered that this post-activity forum exists. I am now retrospectively adding my comments : ) what can i say, it was a lot of fun, very cold outside, but sunny, and the food ... (mouth hangs open, saliva drools)... yes the food.. (same as previous bracket).
Long live the flying deer!
