Oh what a lovely hike it was! Nice travelling, nice weather, nice participants, nice trail.
Everything went smoothly and according to "Masterplan", as someone put it.
Most participants met in the train already and arrived in good mood in Montreux.
The participation was exceptionally good - with 29 participants, half of whom coming from Geneva.
A special MOB bus full with glocals brought us from Montreux to Glion, while offering us a sightseeing tour with splendid sights over lake and mountains. Boarding then the interesting "cremaillere" train to Rocher de Naye we followed the steep track and arrived on time in Caux. A short warming up hike brought us to the Hotel-restaurant Hostellerie de Caux where coffee and other drinks were served on a sunny and green terrace with wonderful panoramic sight over the lake. When Tata had joined us we started the Hike leisurely untill the trail through meadows and bushes and "three crossings of rivers" was reached.
We picknicked along one of the rivers and by the time we arrived in Les Avants we heard some thunder rumble.
We decided then how to split up
1- the hike down to Montreux through the Gorges du Chauderon (calderon) for those who wanted to get down before the shower
2- the hike up to SonLoup for those in search for coffee, cake and daffodiles
3- the train for those who had to be back home early
I was part of the group challenging the slope to SonLoup (option 2) - let others complete review of other options
The slope to SonLoup is pretty demanding when one refuses to slow down like we did, and many of us arrived red-headed and sweating abundantly on top.
So after the coffee we called it a day and travelled down by cablecar - being back in Lausanne at 16h30.
Thanks to all for the great atmosphere and the shared joy.

It was a great day indeed! Very friendly atmosphere, perfect weather, what else! And the hike wasn't that easy. Kandy and I arrived safe and nearly dry (we had 2 or 3 drops of rain) The coming down was worth doing it, not only for the exercice but also for the beautiful sight from Montreux and the lovely company of a wonderful future friend.

Thanks again to Jasper for organizing this hike - it was wonderful! I discovered some spectacular landscapes, and met some really fun people (thanks guys!) - it was a really great way to spend a Sunday afternoon :-) More please. I wasn't expecting the steep ascent to Sanloup (I've discovered muscles of whose existence I was completely unaware
;-), but the views and the glass of wine once we reached our destination made it worthwhile! Fab - thanks again!

Thanks Jasper for organizing another great day - quite a feat with such a big group. It was great to spend the day with friends - both new and familiar faces. The "downhill" team all made it to Montreux just before the rain and finished the day with a very welcome drink before heading home. The scenery on the way down through the gorge was beautiful. All in all a great day :) Marianne

Thanks Jasper for such a well organised and enjoyable hike. Those who chose to go up not down from Les Avants certainly missed out on some wonderful scenery, especially the section through the gorge. On the other hand we missed out on the view from the top and I'm sure that a beer in a bar in Montreux is a poor substitute for a relaxing drink with a view at Sanloup.
All in all it was a thoroughly enjoyable event.

Thanks for a perfect day, and for all your organisation.
The walk was not so easy, but so enjoyable: the scenery, the company, the picnic spot on the river bank, how lucky we are to be able to enjoy such things!
I would have loved to have walked the extra uphill bit, but the walk down to Montreux was superb...would recommend it to everyone. Take it easy, enjoy the view, and give your knees a rest from time to time.
Thanks again to you and everyone for making the day so special.
