Educating Rita play 10 June 2006
Great Play, with an excellent performance by both the actress and actor. Very demanding play on the performers as with only two people in the cast, no place to hide if the actor/actress falters.

The relationship between the Frank (Tutor) and Rita reminded me of Eliza/Professor Higgins in My Fair Lady. Although it is clearer in Educating Rita that the lessons run both ways with a clear reversal of roles near the end of the play.

Must try to get my hands on a copy of the movie with Michael Caine to compare the difference between the film and the play. although I suspect it will be difficult to find it for rent in Geneva.

The theatre during was very warm during the performance as the ventilation seemed a little lacking. The performers I am sure were even warmer than us in the audience!

The group retired to the cafe/ice cream place opposite the Ethno bar after the performance for a drink/ice cream. Very nice to meet some new people living in Geneva. Hope to meet them again some time.

Enjoyed the evening very much (My first attendance of a GOL function)
Thanks to buffalo74 for organising it.

you're right, i'd forgotten about 'my fair lady'... also a case of pygmalion, though rita has a greater influence on frank than elisa does on professor higgins... funny how times change and women are shown as more influencial nowadays (the feminist in me is rather pleased) !!

see you again soon !!
