This might be the first ever activity review from a CANCELED activity… that took place anyway. Let me explain;
We had been talking with Lynsey for some time about organizing something during last week-end. Weather being uncertain, friends availability being unclear, it took us until Thursday to decide we’d go tree climbing on Saturday. By Friday lunchtime, there were only 7 persons registered. But we needed at least 11 to book as a group, as individuals can’t register. By Friday night, I had slightly more than the 11 necessary people, but rain was forecasted. So I announced everybody that I would book first time in the morning and that they could call me if it was raining, to know if we would go anyway or not.
Saturday, 9:01, sun is shining, the best can be expected for the day. I call the place; “I’m sorry, it is full booked for the whole day Sir. I could possibly let 3-4 people in, but you’ll never be able to make it with a group.” Holly s*** ! Rush to SMS everyone and post on Gol that the event as CANCELLED. And some people didn’t left my a phone number. So, I’ll go there anyway out of politeness. Anyway, many friends answer me “we go anyway, let’s give it a try !”. Hey, I like that spirit boys ! And as a matter of fact, when we arrive there and ask “could you possibly let 7 people in ?”, the answer I get is “yes, sure, no problem, why are you asking ?” 8-0 I still didn’t get what has happened on their side. Life’s mystery.
Bad thing is, some people must feel frustrated they didn’t come. I’m very sorry again for the mess. But I’m not (yet) a professional event organizer, please don’t shoot at me ! I hope the above will show you that it wasn’t my fault nor a choice. And there will be a next time (most probably next year, as the park closes during winter). Let’s look forward to it !
But the good thing is, some did really enjoy the day. Kids loved playing with each others. Adults played as kids. Some people reached their limits on the fear factor; some even went a bit further than the boundaries. But we all had a terrific time I’m sure. Thanks for everyone that showed up on sat ! It’s always great to see that people from all ages, marital status and origins can have fun together, given minor organization skills and good will. Thanks mates !

and I like feeling high :-P (Social advertising: don't do drugs kids!)
We were few but enthusiast, goofy but sporty, late but coordinated (yes: we all arrived nearly an hour later than the appointment but all within ten minutes one from the other).
When is it next time? :-D

ROFL ! I just LOVE that formula !
Btw, we met later on some more GOLers that arrived (not) late (enough) and thus went climbing on their own, being sure we would allready be high in the trees, while we were just gathering ! :-)
