Friday's 25th Salsa at SouMoul
On Friday 25th November, GOL members went to dance salsa at SouMoul.

This was fun and people were really surprised to discover this place. I was pleased to meet with you, and share some dances. For me it was the first time I had contact with seveeral GOL members at the same time and I reallly enjoyed it.

Now you know that Geneva is really alive!!!
Just have to be at the right place.

You can find a report with pictures by following the link below

Bye for now and any comment is well come.

On Friday morning, I woke up at 11:00. I had spent a terrible night with fever, sore throat and a cold. I went out to get medicines. The chemist sent me straight to the nearest doctor, as I probably looked like I felt: shit. The doctor just drowned me in medications… that were, I must admit, fast effective. I slept again the all afternoon. But I couldn't miss the Salsa Friday, c'mon ! So I went, with my pills, my spray, a pocket full of handkerchiefs and chewing honey tablets like a maniac.

It was freezing cold outside. But I felt so hot after the first dance I was sure I had fever again. Oh yeah, Friday Night Fever they call it !

Thanks Annalisa, Sabina, Katya, Helen, Lamaane, Mirta and so many other lovely partners I don't recall names ! Every dance with a new partner is like discovering a new country and its cuisine. The ingredients – the basic steps - are the same for everyone (that's just why taking some courses makes sense by the way). But every partner makes them feel different. Cook them another way, more or less spicy.

Dance with a total beginner, and you'll taste the plain flavour of the rhythm. By practicing only and endlessly the basic steps, you'll get the opportunity to slowly forget about your feet, concentrate about your upper body, or even get the chance to realise for the first time that your partner has beautiful eyes. It is also very rewarding to "teach" someone a dance you didn't know yourself 6 days before. Thanks, and congratulations Mirta ! When we told you salsa was easy guys !... come and join the team next time.

Dance with another beginner, and be amazed as if you had bitten a red pepper ! Some girls were just born to dance. Helen, for instance, who swore she had never danced salsa before, moved just like a professional Brazilian dancer to me. She would follow any movement she didn't know smoothly, trustfully, like a river goes on its way to the see, her sexy hips rolling like a sailing boat on a choppy see. She even looked relaxed, laughing. What an experience! Thank you so much Helen !

Dance with Katya, and she'll just manage to make you her do a new figure you didn't know, by surprise. So cool ! But be aware, only the best is acceptable for her. Like a sophisticated swiss timepiece, Katya needs expert hands. Like an expensive jewel, she has to be handled with care. For instance, don't try to make her do a double twist if your hollow motion is not precisely timed and hasn't got the exact amount of energy required. I tried several time, but never managed to do it. A high-level dancing experience which leaves you sweating from concentration, but fully enjoyable however. Thanks LovelyTeacher !

Lamaane is a great partner too. Hard to describe the way she dances. Smooth seems not enough to express fully her sweet style. It's probably because I saw a picture of her and me dancing /thank you Chris)… I'm voiceless. Feeling Lamaane's hand on your shoulder is like having a flight ticket to Dance Paradise ! Thanks again Lamaane !

Annalisa is a lovely partner too (ok, I can tell you now there won't be any surprise, I didn't dance with any nasty girl that evening… except Sabina ? ;-)). We had some troubles finding the proper tempo… ok, ok… "this is always the man's fault"…. good grief… I had some troubles leading her on this very fast tune that time. But we managed to get an extra training session on Sunday, which was cool ! Thanks Annalisa for being such a lovely, active... and fearless (got home safe on sunday or visited France again ?) GOL dance team member.

Sabina told me she would send me her lawyer if I dared speaking about her dancing on a public website… so I won't ! (revenge part 3.. and end !)… but she's a fun and lovely girl for sure !

Okay, now, if that doesn't bring the 500 male members an irresistible urge to learn salsa or come dancing with us next time… I don't know what to do more !

CU then, happy (future) salsalieros !

A big thank you from your not quite on the beat partner :) (hey im trying at least, just wait, one of these days i'll get it)
As for me, I am happy to report I survied the fondue and made it home safe. Even in the terrible snow storm.

For everyone else, I have to add that if you wern't at Tacos Inn on sunday, you missed out on some spectular dancing. We were quite a sight to see. Dont worry, there is always next time.
