GOL Book Club
10 of us (2 couldn't make it) had a great meeting last night at member Carrie's amazing apartment. Fab dinner catering to many special dietary needs -- no small feat! And, of course, great discussion. The nice thing about this book club is that there are so many different opinions, and no one is afraid to say what they really think! Good times, good times.

I was not there (I was rudly rejected on the excuse that the club is full. I know it's just because I have no hair!), but am real happy to see the group is going well. we talked about the group in our newsletter today, and I hope more groups will spring up.

Seperatly, any chance to join the next book club meeting?

Thanks Alicia for hosting ! ....a perfect "zen" evening (candles, fragrances, music et al) followed by dinner catering to "individual" tastes -- meat + fish, meat and no fish, fish and no meat, veg but no cheese, veg with cheese, cheese with veg (did I miss any...)

lively discussions -- look forward to the next one - A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian : A Novel by Marina Lewycka

So many of you were sad to see that the Book Club was full. Good news: member Apple has started a second GOL book club! Not sure if it's full yet, but maybe there's still space for those of you interested....It was listed in Member Activities, so go check it out!

We read kind: "the perfume" by Patrick Suskind. Really good book where the story is told in terms of smells and perfumes mostly, in a wonderful way. If you havent read it, we warmly recommend!

way of telling, the story is told through its smells rather than from the usual visual perspective that 99 percent of stories usually employ. Not to miss it! A strange character who perceives the world through smell but lacks it himself, will learn early on that he cannot fit in. Ps. I must confess that I am not part of that book club and I am just pretending so that I can offer my most expert advise on this subject ;D

hi there. im a newbie here :-) hope you dont mind me joining in.

by coincidence, the office talk this morning was about scents, and how some cities seem to have their own. beijing has the smell of steamed dumplings, ulaanbatar has mutton. and the joke is geneva smells like paper and paperclips -- ah bureaucracy hehe.

how do often do book clubs meet?
