Just got back home from it. It was good, but long.
6 brave souls went up to present their ideas infront of 100 GoLers, and 6 experts. The ideas ranged from a Resto for Parents & Kids, to an Artist Association, to a new technology patent. And we also presented GoL and our questions about its future to everyone.
We had some great discussions and feedback.
It just took a bit too long, going from 18 to 22. Next one will be shorter.

...that led to a very interesting evening! I'll be there at the next one!!
P.S. With regard to GoL going global, I think that it can only work if every targeted city has people with the same enthousiasm and network as you Nir!

Is true it got a bit long, and I too missed a bit in terms of visible passion and conviction. But nervousness can account for all the above. And a definite 'good on yer' to all those that participated!
I found the panel's intro's interesting - what the various investors focus on, and why; the statistics of success; what not to do to be sucessful; entrepreneurship now and in the past - what was different; e-commerce; impact of getting timing right; and not least, the importance of the team - people, people, people...(this area being what I devote my professional energies to, with conviction and passion). Could have been a bit briefer though, I guess, for the good of the overall timing of the event.
Am in favour of creative freedom of expression, but perhaps - again for sake of time, but perhaps also so they ensured relevant feedback - those presenting could have stuck to a structure, e.g.:
1) concept
2) SWOT analysis
3) financials - break-even and beyond
4) next steps / decisions...
Those that were not prepared to present their figures, even if they had done their sums, were less well able to 'defend' their case.
I think those that were perhaps least developped in their thoughts got more out of the feedback. Those, like Nir, who had obviously done their research, thought through the bigger picture presented better, were more confident and convinced, but I am not sure they got the feedback/direction they were after, due to time constraints? ? For them to judge, obviously.

more than no. of 'expats', singles, 'new-in-towners'... I believe it is the energy of key players in the community that perpetuates a virtuous spiral of energy that others draw from, and contribute to.
I think that GoL has proven that DESPITE, not because of, the high volume of 'expats', singles and transient nature of its population an on &/or off-line community can thrive.
Humans are generally curious, sociable, keen to belong to 'something bigger' and GoL makes it easy for people to be spontaneous / organised about outings; intellectual / cultural / informed / have fun / sporty / ..... with others. Regardless of demographics.
