Hiking with Capricorne in Valais
Jun 13, 2007 @ 18:24
With ten brave participants Andreas didn’t want to disappoint anyone, so he led the way up and followed the program as promised : start at 10h30 in Martigny (476m), arriving at 14h30 at Col des Planches (1400 m), and reaching col du Lin (1671m) bravely around 16h00 for the picnic.
Thanks Andreas for showing us this beautiful region and in encouraging us to go on and on, because according to your hiking experience, we would not recover from sitting down for a pick-nick half-way…..
What happened to me is this : I had my knees hurting after 4 hours climbing. Not only I felt we were delaying the group (the others showed no sign of fatigue), but most of all I feared I would not be able to walk back again. So we (I was with my wife and daughter) left the group at Col des Planches and had our picknick and first rest. Because on Sundays there would not be a bus before 18h, we decided to follow the descending path back to Martigny, announced as a 2hrs hike. With knicking knees, we reached Martigny at 18h. Our only comfort being that had we stayed with the group it would have been worse…. but……I heard later on that Andreas had managed to find a bus and train and that they arrived in Martigny at 18h30.
Nevertheless, now that we have recovered from the hike (i.e. delai of the review) we look back on a wonderful experience and nice memories, and we will certainly hike again soon.
So thanks again Andreas, for these opportunities you offer to discover the swiss alps.

any chances of having a hiking course for beginners / low grade hike i.e. along the top of the mountain? (hahaha!) growing up in a city jungle all my life, the only hiking i do is climbing up the stairs in the subway/metro stations!
would love to experience switzerland to its fullest! esle, i'll just have to live vicariously through your photos :) looks like you had great weather.
