Indian Film Festival - Nov 26-27
Unfortunately, I arrived very late on the first day of the Indian Film Festival, and saw only the last half hour of "Guggi". Although I understood what the movie was about, it was too late to get into it, and I spent most of the half hour wondering if I should not have gone to the erotic fair Extasia instead (it was happening the same week-end).

After the movie, there was a Q&A session with the leading actress, Jaya Bachchan. The moderator announced there would be a prize for the best question. I was full of hope with my query, but later an insider's question raised tears in Mrs Bachchan's eyes, so I almost started crying too, realizing the price would never be mine.

Anyway, after a pleasant dinner (included in the ticket) with my friend Keleko, the second movie started, "Koshish". This time, I was able to get into this story of a deaf and mute couple, and I was very moved following their difficulties in life.

The second day started with the projection of "Abhimaan", the story of a newly-wed couple of singers. By the end of the movie, I knew why I liked Indian musical movies: they are so refreshing, when compared to the professionalism of Hollywood, and have such a pleasant and exotic soundtrack! The rythm may be a bit slow for some, but I enjoyed myself tremendously.

The last movie, "Hazaar Chaurasi ki Maa", was dark. A story about a son murdered, it didn't have the lightness and joy of the previous ones, and I didn't enjoy it much, although it was interesting to learn about this part of Indian history.

A few days later, I learnt my name had leaked into major Indian newspapers writing about a grinning Frenchman that had shared a meal with Mrs. Bachchan.

This was a great week-end overall, with an excellent immersion into Indian movies. Thanks to Zinta for informing us about it!

Note: I'm surprised by the number of children under 7 having joined GOL's website recently (you can filter members by their age), this is why I have kept this story very soft (yes, there is another version).
