Jens' hike - Sonchaux to Rochers de Naye
One of the best tracks in the area, with splendid views, even if we couldn't see them all the time because of a few clouds. Very warm, we climbed about 800m, so red faces and wet t-shirts to be seen everywhere. But once we arrived, what a happy reward to sit there, eat and enjoy the fresh little wind, the sun and the usual friendly Glocals spirit!

Thank you Jens, I really enjoyed this day above Montreux and I was only half an hour late for the philosophy debate in Lausanne about capital punishment!

Danke!

Thank you, Jens, a very nice path, green, shadowy and with a beutiful scenery, great views (although partly hidden by fog...) and wonderful flowers everywhere! I knew the Rochers de la Naye, but I had come from Col de Jaman last time, and the way from Sonchaux was quite different and at least as beutiful!

So I had a very nice sunday with lots of nice people to talk with, which made that it did not feel like 800m but much less! 20 people were a rather large group for hiking, but we got up and down again quite fast and it seems to me that nobody got lost on the way...

So once again thank you to Jens, and thank you to Liz for driving (maybe the driving part up to Sonchaux was the hardest, but we got up and down again safely ;-))

What a FANTASTIC day we had!!! Thank you Jens for this wonderful organization! :D

Despite some advance warning from friends about how steep it was towards the end, it was very enjoyable. Just as promised, the view was breathtaking all the way to the top, but it was unfortunate that once we reached the very top the wispy clouds came through.

Jasper, thanks to your quick first aid, looks like my cuts & bruises are healing already. I'm sure by tomorrow, my wrists will be feeling the pain from my fall. :crying:

Looking forward to next month's walking trail:rolleyes:

Thanks a lot for everybody who joined us for the hike to Rochers-de-Naye and for the nice comments.

I was the first activity I organized and I am happy that everything went well.

See you next time

Jens :)

jumpman's Hike was very nice indeed, I had an enjoyable day !

We first met at MacDo Villeneuve : Just the look of the participants showed that the spirit was good.

Then the drive 900m up to Sonchaux (1261m), it had the character of a mountain drive test for flat-country drivers but they all passed ;-).

Resisting the temptation of paragliding we enjoyed the view and started what was announced as a 5 hours round trip (3h up and 2h down).

The beautiful hiking trail led us along green alpine pastures with an incredible variety of flowers (sorry Liz not being able to name them all, not one I'd say). Without too much pain, but a bit sweaty, we reached the restaurant in only 2h and then had an endlessly varying view - sometimes uniformly foggy, sometimes surprisingly clear far views - in all directions.

Thanks Jens for sharing this experience.

This was absolutely great! Fabulous hiking trail, stunning views and a really nice group :-) Many apologies for the fog - the weather gods obviously misunderstood my pleas for good weather for nostalgia for my homeland - hence the fog. No guys - you got it WRONG!! Promise to do better next time ;-)

Seriously, I got to discover some amazing landscape (before the fog descended). N ot to mention the groundhogs (cute - but did you see those teeth?) And it very well organized (hurrah for German precision!) - no nasty surprises, but lots of good ones. Can we do this again?

@ Isa_G: I am never driving up there again! Anyway, it was thanks to your better half that we got down at all - had it been up to me, we would still be there ;-) Just as well JC had schnaps in his rucksack to steady my nerves once we got up there :*)

@ Jasper: I am D-E-V-A-S-T-A-T-E-D that you couldn't tell me about those flowers - you were my last hope! You always are!! Now I shall die ignorant - and it's all your fault ;-)

Jens, thanks for a great day!
