What a night! I loved it.
We were (by my count) almost 100 GoL'ers on the beach. People just sat down, ate and chilled and played freesbee. I saw a ton of old friends, and a ton of new faces.
It felt great to just be able to walk to a group of folks, sit down with them, and make new friends (and eat their free food too...(-:
A bunch of folks even decided to camp out on the beach, and I was real sorry I didn't join them given the amazing night it was.
Thanks Julian!

I hope everyone took a few minutes last night to just to look out over the lake on such a beautiful night...Sun setting painting the mountains red, the full moon moving up and over the lake with the sound of the water lapping on the rocks! Ok for a Brit that likes beer, curry and the odd party now and then...I also appreciate the beauty of nature, the miracle and fortune of my life and the friends I'm sharing this chapter of it with... I take nothing for granted! Thanks for organising it Julian... a great memory has been burnt into my head that will last longer than my youthful stunning good looks!!! I've been here almost a year now...and this was the best evening I've had.

the true spirit of GOL with old friends and new sharing food and stories while embraced by the beautiful serene lake, mountains, sunset, moonlight... the late night talks while sitting around the bonfire, still eating and drinking. then as the campers slowly crawled into our tents i can still here JT and few others chatting in the distance. all throughout the night while i toss and turn on the hard ground, but warmly wrapped in my sleeping bag, i can STILL hear JT and Co. yappin away. just as i'm in that peace and tranquil moment, i notice the sky opening up and take a peek out the tent to look for sunrise, but they are hidden behind puffy clouds on the horizon. i go back for a snooze, and shortly wake up to the sound of lapping water along the rocks, birds chirping, ducks passing by, and the POPPING sound of wine bottle opening!! Someone's STILL drinking!! (need i say who?) but unfortunately this peaceful serenity was broken up by the first plane and train leaving from Geneva. It must be just before 7am! as i start coming out of my cocoon, i realize the first bunch of serial campers start to put on their gear for a dip in the lake...not me, i was happy to be sitting in my tent while gazing at sunrise and soaking in the warm morning air.
Thanks JT for organizing, TiNkIe for coming up with the idea of camping out, Thor for lending me your tent, Silverwolf & Marianne for the ride out, and Xavier for the ride back, and everyone in between for sharing your food and just simply a magical moment. (sorry if I've missed out a special thank you to that special someone) my friend who flew in from London just before the bbq was simply chuffed to meet all the lovely people that made this evening an evening to remember for all.
Now that I have sleeping bags, I hope to make more use of it while i'm here!!!
bonne weekend!! YouMeCo.

Yes, thanks Julian - it was a great idea and a great night! Reading all the other posts I wish I had stayed longer. I suppose next time I should either bring a sweater or be less of a pussy :-)
Thanks again,

Hi Julian, just to join in the thanks to you for organising the BBQ - even though I managed to be fashionably late - well OK about 3 hours but who's counting!! Had a fab time and Dean is right, we probably dont take enough time out to appreciate where we actually live, seeing the sun come up over the mountains this morning was so amazing, and I know I didnt shut up about it - sorry!!
Anyway thanks for the breakfast of wine(my mother would be so proud of me!)

Thank you Julian for organising the evening, and to everybody else for being there! All was perfect, spirit, people and the surroundings. When I think that 6 months ago I was still complaining about Geneva being too quiet, too small ... silly really, it's all down to what you make it!

Thanks JulianT and Tinkie for organizing a cool activity, as always!
I have realized one thing I had planned to do since my arrival to Geneva: Bivouacking by the lake and jumping into it at night and early morning. It was nicer since I was falling asleep on Friday night accompanying by other late birds who were still chatting, drinking, massaging each others, sharing an extra sweet watermelon by camp embers and torch.
A near full mood only was occasionally hidden behind sprinkling clouds in the sky. After seeing one long shooting star before my eyes closed, I was hoping to wake up where the clouds are far behind and the lake would be warmer to swim again in the morning. The lake was warmer on Saturday morning but absolutely no comparison to the warmly Southeastern Sea I just returned. It seems to me that Lake L?man is never warm enough to swim comfortably. My tent was empty the whole night. Other tents were packed with other fellows. I was told that it was warmer this way so my tent was spared. I thought who needed a tent to block view of stars, a near full moon and an early sunrise?
P.S. Playing lighting and shinning Frisbee at night was fun but I lost my Frisbee! Lost and found?

A bit of an umprovised evening for me, but happy to join you on the last minute.
Many interesting people, a swim in this cold lake by the morning in order to relieve from the excesses of the previous evening, and an atmosphere said to be far less formal than our competitors at the UN beach;)
A friend told me later that camping on site was forbidden, a chance that the police didn't caught us then...
Xavier

Special thanks to Julian and all those who made the BBQ party such a good night. Really enjoyed catching up with old friends, as well as meeting some new faces. Venue, atmosphere and member attendance were all superb. Will certainly keep an eye on the activities board for future events hosted by LoL's most famous member!!!

Actually, I'm most of all fingerless, with my left hand all bandaged (nothing bad, just met my elder sister yesterday who likes to play nurse with her little bro, even now that she's become a surgeon). I'll save you useless reading and save me anoying 2 fingers typing and summ it up to the essential: nice evening, lovely company, gorgeous place, but I'll nail anyone's balls up a mast if I even see them litter as some of you foxes did on friday night.
Have a good week ! :-)

The party was great and the water in the lake just gorgeous - we swam twice actually, in the evening to get sober, in he morning - to get awake :-)
And the issue of being legal camping at the lake side was discussed few times, but the truth came out only in the morning, when Hobbes was the last one to pack his tent and expected to see police any minute - like a Murphy`s law...
But we all got lucky - nothing could spoil the great mood and fantastic atmosphere :-)
It seems JulianT is notorious for organizing best GoL activities - glad to be part of them :-)))
Joining GoL really tends to change the life for better!!!
