July 4th, celebration of Independence Day for the USA
Thanks to Elisabeth for the help as guestwoman, and thanks to Jens for the help in taking pictures - pictures which will be posted soon and will help in not forgetting how pleasant it was.
Thanks to the new delegation of members from Geneva - I'm really honored you have been coming all that (high-)way.
Thanks to all for coming again in high spirits and hope to see you again at the following drinks on Friday August 8th (not the 1st) and September 5th.

Later that night I had arranged to stay at my friend's place so I would have a short trip to Montreaux for the Sheryl Crow concert. I knew my friend was at the Jazz festival that night, so I figured I'd wait for in McD's. And since I did not have dinner yet, I thought I'd finally cave in and sink my teeth into the worlds most expensive McD hamburger. I fought this long boycotting McDs, but after journey into town, what better way to treat myself in the final minutes of the 232nd birthday of the US.
As I was enjoying my last bites of my cheeseburger, I got a call from my friend saying her concert in Montreaux had just started now (and that was at 11:45pm) so she would not be back til much later (!) Sitting in McD's til closing (2am) did not excite me, so after a few phone calls, I soon found a saint who took me in for the night:satisfied: (Thank You M&M)!
Oh, and btw... the Sheryl Crow concert was fantastic! :hehe:

To YouMeCO: Hope the difficulties to get to Lausanne will not restrain you from coming over once again :-)

Hm... JT, i've no clue what's where in Lausanne. I need to hang out there more often. Apart from the darn uphills constantly reminding me of your hike... I found Lausanne to be a pleasant town to live in. I think having spent a night in the center of town, seeing the stars from the attic windows and then waking up to a bright sunny day overlooking the city of Lausanne with a hint of the lake certainly helps.
I have seen one kebab place along the middle of the steep hill leading up from train station, is that the one? I'll keep that in mind next time i get stuck in Lausanne :)
