But... I was very very disappointed that out of the 17 people who had rsvp'd, we had only 7 actually turn up. Out of the 10 no shows, only 4 people took the time to tell me that they couldn't make it.
Not only did they let the group of us down, but even more importantly, they let down our fellow group member Niels, who owns "Faim?" and who had turned away other bookings to make room for us. He lost business, and not a small amount of it. I only hope he will be willing to let us book tables at all again the future!
However, that said, those of us that gathered had a lovely brunch. The day was perfect, the food and company delightful. Afterwards a few of us went for a long walk to Junction, and enjoyed a really lovely afternoon. Thank you to our "native guide" and to everyone that came, and I hope that those who let me know they couldn't make it this week, will be able to join us next time.

The company and the food (as always) was the perfect way to start out such a beautiful SPRING Sunday! But I too felt quite disappointed that there were SO MANY no-shows. Not only did I feel badly for Niels as he lost business yesterday (praying that this incident doesn't sour him on future GoL events), but I also felt badly for Kiriel who organized the event!!
I am glad you mentioned something, Kiriel....because if you hadn't, I would have. Otherwise, the brunch itself was wonderful and it was great to meet 5 new GoLers!! And for me, it was a nice warm-up to Iolly's wine tasting!!
Thanks so much for organizing the event yesterday, Kiriel!

I have no excuses ... and I am really really sorry for not showin up. As some people know .. I just had the thoughest weekend and didn't sleep at all on saturday. So when I woke up on Sunday it was already 3pm (and I did put the alarm clock).
I am ashamed of myself. and if I am ever allowed again to one of this events ... I promise I'll show up.
SORRY!

The no shows at Activities are a real problem, and very disppointing for the organisers.
We are working on a technical solution to minimize the no shows, but ultimatly it will always still be up to the people who confirmed participation to show up.
Kiriel, why don't you name the people who didn't show up? It's not very nice to do so, but just so other organisers know that next time these people register to an event, they should be re-re-re-confirmed.

Daylight savings is always a rough day! I'll bet that this was a big reason for many no-shows!

if you forget, that isn't the question , eveyryone can forget.
the problem is taking the committment too lightly. i have seen this lack of integrity elsewhere.......it lets everyone down, especially when it involves 3rd parties like restaurants etc. i have a partial solution......count on 2/3 of the people showing up....it is always better to add a table or chairs and make more room ( unless we are talking limited seating ). of course no shows would be warned that 3 strikes and you're out...for that year anyway. or is that too severe?
