Well if I’m gonna tell this story, let’s start at the beginning.. At Youmeco’s May Birthday drinks I bought some raffle tickets. The good news is.... for the first time in my life, I actually won something... The bad news is.... as I had already left, Youmeco decided to re-draw the prize. Needless to say, I have teased her mercilessly ever since, with occasional treats to reveal her treacherous behaviour.
So when she won the prize to meet Kylie, and then got stuck in London, she asked me to take her place (guess I have to stop teasing her now ;-). Kylie? I said, Kylie who ? .... just joking ... I spent the whole day wondering what to wear, and trying to remember the words of her songs. Thank heaven for lyrics.com ;-)
At the VIP entrance of the Arena I met Hon (Aka Tigre) and four other lucky winners. Aurélien, from Opus One, welcomed us with a smile and explained the plan. And then Lin took us through the VIP entrance, down in the basement and into a small room. A security guard came in and installed a fan, probably because one the guests was sweating profusely ;-)
..... And in came Kylie, larger than life ...
She walked straight up to me and said: “Aren’t you the guy from Glocals? Where’s my Oscar Winning T-shirt and why aren’t you wearing a policeman’s uniform?”....
No, seriously folks, she walked in, smiled and shook our hands. I asked her if she still got nervous before each concert and she replied “just a little”. Then she spent a few minutes with each of us. Allain, a REAL Kylie fan, proudly displayed his “hair tattoo” and then offered to show Kylie another one. She (wisely ;-) hesitated, until he revealed a magnificent tattoo of Kylie on his ... shoulder.
She asked us how we had won our tickets and Hon and I explained the competition on Glocals. She said she loved her new Glocals’ profile (KylieAnnMinogue) and gave me a big kiss to pass on to Extremal (in your dreams .. ;-)
Then she signed a few postcards and posed for a photo with us. When the time came to say goodbye, she kissed us twice.. However, I complained that three was the norm in Geneva and cunningly got a third kiss ;-)
She was just great; natural, pleasant and friendly ... a true Glocal..
... and then she said she had to go... something about a concert....
And a great concert it was too... but I’ll leave it to the VIP ticket winners to tell you all about that...
Many thanks to Kylie, Youmeco, Nir and Opus One
Rob
