Musical Chairs - March 5th, 2009
Am I really the first to comment?? Is everyone else still sleeping or what??

I would like to start off by thanking Nir and everyone who helped out last night. I had such an amazing night. Everyone looked so fabulous, and seemed to be in high spirits. I loved the location, I think it worked out well in that setting, and the hotel, I felt went the extra mile. I was escorted to the washrooms by a lady who worked for the hotel, although she could have just given me directions. Also I gave up desserts for Lent, and after I mentioned it to the staff they brought the cutest little fruit creation, which made me smile. Yes these are smalls things but it meant a lot to me. They could have just said no, but they went the extra step and I am very thankful.

I would however change the end.. I think we should have moved into the bar or something so that more people could have mingled. It was hard to just join another table and drag a chair over if you didnt know anyone there. I know it's about coming out of your comfort zone maybe, but there were a lot of shy people there, and I felt some people just left because it was too hard for them to mingle after..just my opinion.

All in all it was a great night, and I wish I could have spoke to everyone. Cant wait for the next one!!

Dam'!

So sorry Sari and I couldn't come, but we are both sick and contagious. :(

We had to renounce in order not to spoil your week ends.

I don't doubt for a moment that it's been great! :D

I had a blast. The Musical Chair Dinners are my favourite glocals events (along with the Salsa Weekends) cos they really work for meeting new people.

And how many new folks I met! Ralph, Fariba, Dave, Astrid, Stephen, are just some of the folks I'm pretty sure I'll stay in touch with. And more.

During the night participants wrote 1-2 lines about themselves, to increase the mingle...Here's some of the more amusing ones:

Suzanne aka Prin..typical Canadian girl who loves to have fun and meet new people…also very upset they don’t sell marrons chaud all year!!

Ralph: I hate being conventional but I am a lawyer. I fear my bank account statements every month but I am a banker. Everybody believes me to be
Spanish but I am German.

Astrid German but not really.

I like mountain sports, hiking, sky diving and paragliding…not in this dress of course!

Stef. They call me the Granny because I give wise advises. That doesn't mean that I follow them myself!

Olga :-) I love alternating high heels for the UN corridors and ancles' bells for the dance room - such small changes in a day make you travel around the world :-)

Gretchen works with death statistics!

Claudia - once had a job drilling holes for the brushes in dishwashing brushes, has never met anyone else who remembers the classic unforgettable BBC
series "the Piglet Files"

Dave. Two stories. One about a blue light. One about a chimney fire....

See you at the next one...(-:

Thank you very much for the excellent dinner, Nir ! The organisation was perfect, and you manage to give special attention to each of the 90 persons in only a few hours, truly congratulations ! Will be happy to come again :-)

Dear Nir,

Thanks so much for organizing. Was really very well done and I would always come again. Having one or two more rounds or like Prin wrote come together would complete it perhaps.

Only remark to that great evening was in my eyes the quality of the main course - but well people have different tastes.

See you again soon Wolfgang

Hi All,

fantastic night and great company. A big thank you to Nir for your organisation and efforts, can't wait for the next one. Prins idea is good, that would finish things off nicely. Also, stories about oneself should be compulsory!!

Cheers, Dave

I loved it! My first musical chairs dinner and hope to do it again. We tried to stay for breakfast musical chairs, but they kicked us out to the bar eventually :)

The list with comments about yourself was a nice touch.

Thanks Nir!

Everyting has been said : it was just amazing !

The place was perfect, people were very open-minded and friendly... but it wouldn't have been such an amazing event without Nir and his fabulous ability to make people feel comfortable.

Thank you very much Nir ! You have done a great job !

I am looking forward to the next one.

Yes Nir,

one strike again - 11 of 10 possible points. Organisation and people were perfect (even if you added a criteria by presenting me to the crowd that was certainly not in my quote ...:w00t: - but had to convince people that the situation is different).

You know that you can count on me for everything you have in mind - show me the way:D.

See you soon

Ralph

All,

Thanks for the feedback and good ideas for the next one - much appreciated. I also copied the Hotel director on all the feedback received, incl the comments about the main dish.

The next Musical-Chairs dinner will be a Spring-Special one, on April 16, at U-Bobba. More details coming soon...
