Nir, really good organisation permitting everybody to find his/her place and topic of discussions - you are the man! Will insist to be considerend for the whole year 2009 as a New Member to have the occasion to participate.

oh yeahhh nir thnx for organising the newbies get together yesterday night.... i had a gr8 tym meeting new ppl..

for me liked the day u selected, place was awesome, crowd was very friendly, hospitality was excellent.....and even dinks were not so expensive.....

on the whole thnx for the wonderful event.......see u around

I guess the reactions of everyone is a clear sign: The event is a must and a pretty good start for beginners. It gives everybody the possibility to enter into the group on the chosen speed. However, name tags are really good to help persons like me without memory (I have to restart my brain-motherboard for further data).

Moreover, too much matchmaking, discovery games or "let me introduce myself to the community" should stay with a Club Med holiday. To make it a little bit more smooth, introducing persons to each other that have the same nationality, same profession or same hobbies (pursuant to their given profiles) is a good "kick-off" to get the temperature as well.

But at the very end  it will always depend on your own attitude. Create your chance do not wait for it.

I agree, name tags is a good idea for people. ( that way u can get rid of the lei idea too ) and also agree that really it is down to the people to mix....if you create games etc....that just might make people feel pressured or embarrassed.

The feedback is very positive and i think that all in all it is not something that you need to think about, afterall, people have already agreed to meet new people by agreeing to come along.

The only idea maybe is to have some people that you know personally who can socialise and mix well and go round to get people talking etc....

OK, so next time it's name tags, and 2-3 outgoing friendly veteran members walkign around helping the newbies break the ice.

What did you guys think of the flower necklace idea? OK, they itch a bit. But did they make it clear that everyone wearing one, is of our group and therefor is approachable?
