Pool jinxes and elbow holding
Another fun nite at the pool hall...joined by lots of very welcome non-GOL members!

We had the usual pool sharks Daddy ElGeeky, Keleko, Betz (still talking about "wat happened on sat??"), Phoebs (pool virgin), ElGenebrens & friend (sign up already Roberto), Isabella (blond and luvin it), Romy (super cool girl with the rite address hehe) and about 5 newbies whose names i didnt catch...plus the all-round favorite, Kraigo.

TopLines..
Kraigo gets jinxed wenever he sees someone...loses his mojo and cant pot a ball 2 save his life.
Elbow holding is apparently allowed according to the GOL Pool Associations By-laws.
Pool sharks can turn into pool guppies wen they're not paying attention.

LOL, but a good time was had by all...definitely an event not 2 b missed! We suggest a GOL pool play-off soon! Thnx Kraigo for the organization : D

Wow what an evening out following the Sindy Ball!
A warm welcome to all new comers to pool, Gareth, Keleko, Isa&her 2 friends, Nicky&Sarah,Phoebe,Romy,Roberto,Sadesh, D.J Jezza and anyone else I forgot to mention.

I was really impressed with all the beginner players and new comers to the pool evening!
Sadesh who arrived fresh from his Salsa dancing teamed up with D.J Jezza who just moved apartments. Jezz I didn't realise that you had such a vinyl collection until I had to help carry them to your new apartment:-)
Gareth who has only been in GVA a few days was mixing with the friendly GOL crowd as if he had been here for years.
Romy blessed us with her friendly personality and by the way thanks for the drinks:-)
Elguiri was on fire again, sinking balls left right and centre! Betz was there to help;-)
We were really impressed with Roberto's "a la Italiano style", queue stick in hand, talking into his mobile phone while drinking a double expresso..how did you do all that at the same time???
Tigger who usually rides the queue stick decided to change technique...dancing around the tables and singing into the queue stick..I even heard someone in the crowd saying "I'll have what she's having":-) Tigger's partner in crime Phoebe was supporting her with backup vocals.
Yes I know Tigger, I'll be the first to admit that my game was really bad, but I manage to jump the ball in front of the 8 ball and sink it, apart from that shot, what can I say, I lost my Mojo:-(
The innuendoes were coming from all sides..some memorable comments from the players "Can I put it where ever I want", "why do you rack and shake the balls before touching the triangle"?? I think these comments raise more questions than answers!

The highlight of the evening was when Gareth, Jersey and Romy asked me about an Australian myth "The Christmas Kangaroo". So I explained that each year, the Christmas kangaroo carries gifts in its pouch and visits families throughout Australia. When the Kangaroo arrives at the house it challenges the head of the household to a duel (for those who don't know, kangaroos box to survive in the wild, thus the inspiration behind the film "Maltida the boxing kangaroo", look it up if you're still lost!) If the kangaroo loses the duel, it has to give all its presents to the family for Christmas..if the kangaroo wins..well..I can't really say what happens next!! This is well beyond this forum and I'll leave you with this thought provoking myth:-)
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE and thank-you for being such great company & good sports!
Tigger, I'll be back for round 2 in 2006!
Kraigo

.....right here!! ;)

Thanks so much to everyone who came last night! What a fantastic turn out and it was great meeting so many new people!!

I must give special thanks to Elguiri for letting me play with his stick all night!! Somehow though, I woke up with a sore wrist this morning (seriously). I musta overdone it on the stroking and potting balls! Guess I am outta practice! ;)

And of course, thanks to Kraigo for getting us all together! We all really appreciate your efforts in making the pool nights fun! Looking forward to more pool parties in 2006!!!

was actually even more fun then the pool part - all of us (all least those her were of age to remember :-) tried to guess the name of group/songs of the 80's that passed all night (ex : Cyndi Lauper, Billy Ocean, Bruce Hornsby & the Range, and dozens of other songs I had not heard in over 10 years). Tigger was pretty good at it I must say (she must have as big collection of tapes as I do of records aka frisbees) - so it was a great way to combine great company, competitive pool & a fun triva quiz all at the same time - looking forward to next one. See y'all there !

Playing for the very first time....

Well, I wish I could say it was, but, truth is... it wasn't my first time...I've never played billard often before that's why I'm so bad.

But I still had a great time with you guys, and I'm looking forward to meeting you all again soon, next year

So Kraigo... you know what you have to do...

Cheers mate

It was great to have something happening on a Monday night and try to play pool... thank you Kraigo.
It's a great game 'coz everyone stands a chance of winning even when playing with me... However it might not be the case for any Jersey's partner... Sorry boy ;-)

On top of that I really enjoyed meeting a really good crowd and lookforward to meeting you guys at another event or for a new pool gigantic competition.

As Tigger mention there are some good addresses in Geneva and I hope to see you guys there on Thursday the 1st week of January as I intend to hold an 'apero'. But will keep you posted on that.

In the meantime I wish you all a merry X-mas and a happy New Year.

I am relatively new to Geneva and any GOL activities. Just wondered if there still is a pool competition going on here at the GOL. (Noticed that there are enough places to play here in Geneva...)
Open to any friendly competition, if there is any I would be happy to hear about it!
