Review of this morning's Glocals hike at Fort L'Ecluse
Hi everyone,

Just thought I would supply a little positive feedback on today's hike at Fort L'Ecluse organized on the Glocals site.

A terrifically diverse, energetic, and fun group of glocals gathered at the Douanes de Chancy this morning, and then took the short 15 minute drive into France to a hiking trail at the Fort L'Ecluse.

The weather was sunny and warm in the morning, and the hike started with a very steep gravelly trail up about 500m. A bit tiring for those of us who have not hiked in some time, but before long we arrived up at the Fort itself, which has amazing views of the deep valley below and the mountain across the way.

After a brief Fort tour, we pressed on to the next step, and after about an hour of further hiking, stopped for lunch at a clearing with more great views. After a relaxing lunch, we continued on past a working farm, saying a brief hello to a group of curious cows. At about that point, the weather turned, and we were caught in first a rain, then a downpour, then actual hail! It was funny for a bit, then a bit less so, and then it stopped. Unfortunately, after a break, it then started to pour yet again - so for the last hour and a half or so of the hike all 14 of us were soaked through. Surprisingly, folks kept up good spirits, and all were happy to get back to our cars.

All in all, it was fun, and many thanks to Mary for organizing the hike. Here's to more in the future!

PS - I'm going to try to attach a photo right here, and if it doesn't work, I will try again in a subsequent post.

Mary has done it again - a great job in organising and making the weekend a very memorable one.

The group was great and we experienced a range of climate from cool weather to rain.

Looking forward to the next hike, Mary.
