Snowshoeing on Boxing Day
A Scot, an American, an Iranian, a Swiss, a Ghanian, a French and a Guyanese (7 in total) set out to conquer a mountain in the Villars/Gryon Alps. Armed with snowshoes and good humour we went up hills, through forest and into the valley for what started as a hot chocolate and turned into a full blown lunch.

The return was a race against time and the fear of darkness … the pace amply set by the Scot, American and Iranian. Thanks guys and gal … because the sunset that greeted us at the last hill could not have been more perfectly timed. Then of course off to the refuge for a well earned dinner. Not to mention my longed for panache :-)

Thanks everyone for a wonderful day out. You were great company and good sports - the route being a little more than the promised easy stroll.

Advise from Tara, a first timer : snowshoeing is easy, but you need a minimum level of fitness.

Hope to see you all again soon. Marcia

PS: for those wondering : Boxing Day is the day after Christmas when the Victorian upper classes served a meal and gave presents to their servants using the same boxes their own Xmas presents had been wrapped in - compliments of Julian T
