Just wanted to say thanks to poweryogi, joanna (the teacher of the class) and to the 3rd trainer (sorry, forgot her name) - they were all great with helping us to get into the correct positions and joanna was a very enthusiastic and interesting teacher.
Unfortunately, only 12 of the 27 people that had signed up showed up for this FREE class (due to the sunny day possibly) - so the 3 trainers that were expecting this big group to show up to share their knowledge and time with them were quite disappointed, to say the least. The many people not showing up probably also took the place of people that were seriously interested in trying out the course, so again the problem of no-shows needs to be addressed...otherwise future member activities and offerings like this will be impaired.

I also heard the class was great. I was not there cos it was full...
You raise an important point on no shows. We will address this point in more details in the coming weeks on the 'news from site admin' forum. But it is indeed a real serious point, and a very frustrating one to all those who organise events and to all those members who get told they can't join an event cos it's FULL.

Dear Poweryogi and the teachers at Innercityyoga!
I really enjoyed the yoga ! The centre offers a lovely athmosphere and very good guidance. I really need an oasis like this between all the parties and work here.
I will sign up for a membership next week, as soon as I move in to my new appartment and get things more settled, I can start focusing on my inner self again.
See u soon, and please inform me when the new Yoga pants arrive..
Mille

last sunday, we (ioana, helene and myself) had the pleasure to welcome the GOLers for a special yoga class.
i think that we all agree on having had some good time together, and it was a great pleasure to meet all the people who showed up.
thank you also for the great feedback we got from the class' participants.
about no shows:
it's just a pity that we brought in 3 teachers (one leading and demonstrating) and 2 to correct, align and help in the postures for a class that normally a single teacher can handle.
when we started planning the event, we told the organizers from GOL that we had made bad experiences with free classes in the past. i think that people do not take it seriously if something is free and drop out last scond or don't show at all. not cool.
best thing would be to either charge money (what we normally do…), which might go against the GOL-spirit, or alternatively ask for a deposit prior to the event. people who do not show up will lose the dposit, the people present will receive it back. in this case, class would be free. (maybe that's way to follow with all venues?)
anyway, there's another free yoga class coming up this weekend, 21 may. it is fully booked so far.
nevertheless, let's hope that this time, people won't be:
a)away
b)starting a new job on sunday
c)mother's day victims
d)gone hiking for an entire day
e)busy with presentations on monday
f)having any deaths to complain…
shanti (peace)to all of you (even the no shows)
patric, ioana & helene

I think the offer and the activity in itself attracts many members, but we were a little unfortunate since it was the warmest and nicest day in a long time...and some people have problems even moving their toes on Sundays after a busy weekend.
You should not feel bad, and I encourage you to try again. Maybe have it outside on the terrace? That can probably be an idea for the hot summerdays...
