so.. back to posting my reviews.. now that I've recovered from a long day / night out :P

Last night was certainly an extra special holiday birthday event thanks to so many people's help! A million thanks to Mary for hosting the event at your lovely place. You are a most gracious host. :Wow: Syd Brown... your vin chaud was such a nice welcoming after a long day of being out in the cold.

A big thank you to Laurent for making fabulous cakes and scuplture!!:rolleyes: J'adore your cakes!:kiss: ..to Graham for preparing lovely bryani and hors d'voirs.. to all those who brought cakes, made tiramisu, champagnes,... It's all thanks to each and everyone who came and made this a grand finale event to remember.

Oh, and of course the other key element of the monthly birthday party has been to support Orphanaide Africa for Ghana, which many other Glocalers support.  Last night we raised 235chf, making a grand total of 1870chf since I started the collections in May. It's been a great pleasure getting to know the folks who support this great cause.  Last night we once again had very generous donors, some of the lucky winners went home with scented candes, Bentley umbrella, champagnes, scotch, an english tea set, mont blanc keychain and a beautiful pair of swarosky bunnies! (I would've loved to have won them myself :) 

This was also bitter sweet moment for me as it was my last of the monthly birthday parties.  The plan is to go back to NY by the end of March when my contract here ends.  With the state of the US economy the way it is, I realize it's not the best of time to go back, but hopefully in a few yrs time after I sort out some personal matters back in the US, I can look to coming back here so long as I can find a job or some other proposal :P

Definitely must say that I always have fun at the parties and this one was extra special - many cool and fun people, wonderful food, impressive desserts, beautiful setup... and most of all a big THANK YOU to those who made it happen - Yumiko and Mary!!

Thank you so much for organizing and hosting "my" Birthday party. It was amazing... I'm impressed with all the details... friendly welcome, beautiful decorations, an impressive birthday cakes creation by Laurent and the participation of others with plenty of delicious stuff. :) I never had a chance to celebrate my birthday this way. It gave me so much joy and positive energy :w00t:

... and of course I loved Santa ... even though I didn't make it to his lap this time :blush:

Saying thank you is such a wonderful thing that I'm joining in here!

Laurent - Thank you for the beautiful and delicious cake AND the Christmas tree made of choux à la creme!

Graham - Thank you for the out of this world curry. You even set some aside for the troups at home, and believe me, that was appreciated.

Katie - Thank you for helping everyone to remember and to be generous with the orphans in Ghana. And thank you for helping to decorate the tree!

Santa Nir - I'll never think of Santa in the same way again! Thank you for being such a chum putting up with the hot outfit and all those women wanting to sit on your lap and whisper their Christmas desires in your ear.

Greg - Thank you for shopping with me, preparing the flat, putting up lights and making the best hot wine I've ever had!

The Clean-up Elves - What a pleasant surprise that all of a sudden, the dishes were done and the extra food was wrapped neatly! Thank you!

To Everyone - It was a great party because each and every one of you were there to make it so! Thank you for coming with your drinks and food and friendship. Some people even brought fruit cake, a foret noire and a chocolate cake, salmon on toast: lots of YUMMY food! Thank you!

TO YUMIKO - The Birthday Fairy - What a beautiful tradition you've started and kept going! Thank you for making so many people feel appreciated. To be with friends and celebrate your birthday is one of life's greatest gifts.  You make this happen every month Yumi and I'm not alone when I say that it touches lives in such a wonderful way.
