Zurich - Bollywood Charity Party - 28.03.2009
First things first

I would like to thank Rajesh & Anil from the bottom of my heart. These guys came in at 7pm and helped my out to organize the venue and then stayed at the door to welcome the guests! Thank you guys!! You both rock!!!

I would also like to thanks my partner in crime Harshita! Harshita came ALL THE WAY FROM BASEL to do the workshop. The girls enjoyed dancing with her.

Thanks a ton Harshita...

I would also like to thanks Celina and Harshita(yes, again!!) to go around to distribute the tambola tickets! Thanks girls...I very much appreciate this...

And of course all the 290 who attended the party and made it a big success!

And also a big thanks to our Tambola sponsors!

HOLMES PLACE (www.holmesplace.ch)

MAHARANI RESTAURANT (www.maharani.ch)

KINGSKURRY RESTAURANT (www.kingskurry.ch)

WESTSIDE MUSIC CAFE (www.westsidebar.ch)

The party started at 9pm with people flowing in slowly and gradually...by 10pm there were a lot of people and then Harshita started with her workshop which the girls thoroughly enjoyed!! This was followed by the men dancing workshop and a performance...

The presentation took 15 minutes (if you are interested in knowing more, please write me on [email protected]) and then the party started in full swing!!!

There were a lot of people coming up with their requests (I think, I catered to most of the requests) But people were dancing in every corner...I also saw a people chilling in the quieter area...

We finished the party at 4.30pm (new time) and there were about 80-100 people who were not yet ready to go home and asking to play "a last song" (this happened 4 times), but all good things come to an end and so did the party!!

Overall, It was a great night...A lot of lessons learnt.....

AND MY FRIENDS IN GENEVA!! I AM COMING TO GENEVA SOON WITH YET ANOTHER BOLLYWOOD BASH...

Here are some facts of the party

VENUE / LOCATION: It was a very good location..took a lot of time to decorate this place with candles and flowers and other things that created the great ambience..

MUSIC SYSTEM: Could be better....However the main problem was the volume..we could not pump up the volume simply because of the restrictions (The venue being in a residential area.) This was the system provided by Blumenhalle.

I agree that sometimes it is difficult to mix the beat..This is simply because the DJ has to cater to some of the IMPATIENT GUESTS who want their request to be played IMMEDIATELY otherwise the DJ is bad..

Here are the financial figures

290 guests * 15 = CHF 4350

Tambola + other donations = CHF 370

Total income = CHF 4720

1) Decoration for the venue (flowers, candles, big vases etc.) = CHF 400

2)I had to guarantee a minimum consumption of alcohol for CHF 6000. This target was not met and it was just CHF 4230 so I had to pay the difference of CHF 1770

3) Security guy = 5hours * CHF 100 = CHF 500

4) Verlangarung (extension after midnight) = CHF 370

5) Other misc expenses = CHF 300

Total income = CHF 4720

Total expense = CHF 3340

Net profit = CHF 1380

Thanks to all the guest who attended!

Cheers

Ehsaan,

It was a great party, first I thought: Bollywood dance? I can give it a try, but when I look to the time was already 3.30.

Great fun, I just have to learn the lirics and waiting for the next one:)
