Goooooood morning everyone :)

I had a great time yesterday...as always soooo many friendly faces and our special Glocals spirit. I can honestly say that i did speak to strangers :w00t:... and made some new acquaintances and also saw some familliar faces

I do hope that at least some of you managed to keep your name tags on until the end of the evening :P

Thanks to everyone who found time on Tuesday night to have a small party to celebrate the growing of our Zürich part of Glocals



And Nir i agree that having only half of the lounge for us did cause some confusion. So next time...:cool:

Nir, just my opinion... but this 'fake' contact concept doesn't really do it for me, as in it doesn't really add to the spirit of a party.  Instead why not distribute 3 chips or tickets per person with their user & real names written on it. Have them give it out to their 3 people they speak to and that way the receiver knows who they've spoken throughout the night. ;)

Yes....this is a great idea. That would make it so much easier to actually find the person from the Glocals website later and it would also help remember names.

Many thanks to Nir, the welcomers and everyone for the party. It was a great evening and a nice way to meet new people in town. The venue and timing were excellent. I got there at 7pm and plenty of members had already arrived. A 7pm start time is ideal, especially for those arriving directly from work. (I think mid-week start times after 7pm are less good simply because it is too tempting to head home after work and then not return.) Somebody mentioned that a smoke-free area would be very welcome and I agree with that too. Looking forward to the Glocals Zurich 2000-member party!

YouMeCo, initially I thought you were speaking about chips we can gorge on :P.. but yes, this is a great idea.... specially when people like me dont tend to remember names at the first go :doze:.

And, speaking about the party, it was a great one with so many unknown faces thrown in.. and I did speak to a few strangers, its a pity I dont remember the names in the end. And the idea of making it to the disco was great, a few of us were there till midnight with fantastic numbers playing. I am sure a few of us did not make it too office today... well, I did ;).

Though there was confusion about glocals' reigning area and people smoking, we can only learn from our mistakes :). So looking forward to an amazing 2000 member party.

I tried and did everything that I could to help you...

Though, it was suppose to start at 7pm, some people arrived before 7pm...They just couldn't hold their excitement :P
It is a very good sign for the organizers, since it just motivates them to do more!!!

The welcomers did a fantastic job..Marit and Zahia with their irresistable smiles and Julien and Stephan with their charm!!! ;)

There were around 200 people and it was great to see so many new people and also those whom I had not seen in ages!! :)

The Kaufleuten staff was also very nice and co-operative which is always a good thing.. :)

Overall it was a great party....We should have these big parties once a month!!

However based on my experience from organizing big parties in the past here are a few things that I would keep in mind for future parties

• Book a venue just for GLOCALS and have a private party. Since the toilets were next to our lounge, we had too many "intruders". At one point it was difficult to differenciate GLOCALERS with the other guests!
• For big parties like this, it is important to have a control at the door. Fox ex. printed glocals profiles or a guest list to check for those who registered. There was nobody to control at the entrance...
• There were many who could not get the welcome drinks simply because a few people welcomed themselves more than once. To control this, we should give a ticket at the entrance and they would get their welcome drinks only after producing this ticket. This will ensure that most of the guests get the welcome drinks.
• Use a better quality of stickers for the name tags :P (they kept on falling all the time). Also using the GLOCALS ID would be nice as well
• Ensure the NON-SMOKING policy is respected...

You have mentioned most of these things in your list for the next party!

This is just my observation...And it would simply be an improvement for the future parties. I am sure others have their say as well...

Thanks Nir for this friendly party,which was yup great. Was little disappointed to find out that the organiser (the host) disappeared much early than usual......was a lot of fun to catch up with those friendly glocalers and A FEW OTHER NON-GLOCALERS...they got their first Glocals intro....

My Disappearance
I did 'disappear' earlier than planned, cos frankly - I just collapsed at some point. I think it was the combination of standing 3 hours outside to welcome the folks, and not eating anything all day. So at around 22h my body just crashed, and I literlaly fell down on the side-walk. So I just crawled to my hotel room. Sorry about that. After 12 hours of sleep, I was as good as new...(-:

Last thing guys: pls help us, by posting an Activity on the Member-Activities section.  It's the heart of glocals, and we're working hard to get it working in Zurich. If you can post there, would be greatly appreciated.

Hey, this is not a problem.. as you can easily download the pics through the download tool (link) at the top of the pics. It appears to the right of Slideshow and Share links.

But I guess you have to have Picasa installed in the system.
