hayes's no show drink tonight
It is 17h, only 1h30 to go

then it starts in Lady Godiva

Have never felt such a freedom of not showing up

Thanks Hayes, you are adding new perceptions to glocals-life

Yes! That's it! You lot just stay in front of your computers where you belong.

Do not, under any circumstances, go to Lady Godiva's tonight.

Great experience Hayes, look forward to the next no-show activity already.

Well organized, nice non-food and plenty of non-drinks

You must feel satisfied with this successful activity.

This was the bestest non-event ever!  Damn!  :w00t:

The international cast of characters included Swiss, Germans, an Aussie, North Americans, and English. Beer and wit flowed throughout the evening.  Our host flitted from one small grouplet to another, providing a little touch of Hayes in the night...

Looking forward to the next  No Show MOFO event!!

"North Americans"??? Is that what we call them nowadays? Jeez, I can't keep up -- it's political correctness gone mad. When I was young we just used to refer to them as Canadians. Is that really deemed to be so offensive now?

Oh, you know, since the passage of the North American Free Trade  Agreement (NAFTA), Canada and  the U.S. are just one big happy family sharing the world's longest undefended border!  I really just meant Americans and Canadians...:D

Hayes,

Many thanks for organizing a "new event" - GREAT concept, no need to sign up weeks in advance, no secret location, etc...

I must admit I was really looking forward to this event, (thanks for the reminder)... age, LOL

It started of really well, what a surpirse, got to meet a fellow runner on the tram, glad I managed to talk you into coming along.

I had such a great time, what good laughs we all had, and on top of all - got to meet and see "the coolest people" in town. ;)

Still smiling... Bravo Hayes!

Looking forward to the next one. ;) :)

P.s. Yumi, why ask questions? Simple concept, just turn up...;)

I did not not attend and it was great to see all these absent friends who did not not show up. A great non-event! A bit noisy though... Why the heck does the music need to be so loud? To avoid conversation?

So... yeah. I got up at midday today. How many was it? I guess that 10 or 15 people weren't capable of following very simply instructions. A similar number figured it out and didn't show. I don't really have the numbers; I'm not a stickler for the numerics of my events like Thingie or YouKnowWho. What do they do with the numbers afterwards? I suspect their analysis puts most store loyalty card schemes to shame. Mostly, if I write something in Member Activities, it follows the theme "I am going to do this, come if you want".

The perfect balance was struck: half in and half out of the smoking area. That way, those that don't smoke don't have to breathe in smoke, while those that do can have a cigarette without getting enraged by the anit-smokers and their god awful complaining. What a simple and elegant solution! All ages were present between however old i am and however old Katja is. All genders between whatever gender I am and whatever gender (maybe I shouldn't finish this one...), and all levels of moral fibre between me and JoeC. And ImBrettJacks.

Only one person complained about the music. To be fair by that time the music was loud and shit, but still: since the instructions were 'don't come', I reckon that takes some balls.

Photos are here. Here are a few samplers:

Translator bustin' moves. Or whatever it was she called it.

Free, falling off a barstool (freefalling?)

SWISS and DivaGirl, just before the kiss

ok.. well i'm doublebooked, but might be interesting.. but Lady G's like so far away from the pont bridge! i've become such a small town girl, that going to an event in Eau Vive is like 'ugh', Planpalais is a stretch, and Carouge? well that's way out of my zone.

i don't know how i'm going to survive life back in nyc... :crying:

Gosh Hayes, how do I make it to all the events this evening? :hehe:

Yumi, stop complaining, :w00t:  I told you this a while ago, I swap with you any time, take over my daughter (a teenie after all!) and make sure the GVA running groups keeps on running... in the meantime I enjoy life in NY.

This is a very good suggestion for tonight - all no-show people can easily switch to the lorcabar - I have never been there so an excellent occasion to get not know it - I offer a no-drink to any garanteed no-show

where are you sitting Hayes?

how can you be down Hayes ? You've just done it, organized two Memberactivities in two days, they were both very successfull, you have invited a sometimes despised group of people, you made it possible to talk openly about this category, and now you can allow yourself to be proud for a while.

Moreover you have discovered your potential as nOshOw organiser (did I missspell your brand name?), as others observed already, there are no limits in this infinite no-world.

So enjoy for a while your noneliness, and don't forget reporting on the no-show activities you announced a while ago.

Then, I feel the pictures of tonights no-drink look much better than those Yumi tried to see.

I tried very hard to be a no show, but ended up being a no no show, who in the morning wished he had stuck to the simple event instructions and was a no show

Free - there was a student party there, hence a) lots of drunken young kids running around b) the crap music

Translator - if only they were kangeroos the problem would have been solved ;)

I tried very hard to be a no show, but ended up being a no no show, who in the morning wished he had stuck to the simple event instructions and was a no show

Free - there was a student party there, hence a) lots of drunken young kids running around b) the crap music

Translator - if only they were kangeroos the problem would have been solved ;)

Hmmm... that what it was, huh? Student party? That explains a few things, yes.

I've yet to iron out some of the kinks in nO ShOW dr!nKS. I while I am particularly keen on people registering and not showing up, I have yet to decide how to handle those that don't register but do show up. This is something I didn't anticipate at all...

Middle-aged? What are you talking about, Katja? His profile says he's 32. Thirty two! Everyone knows that this middle age to which you refer kicks in when you enter your forties. I.e at the age of about 48.

Natd76,

thanks for the info. I can cope with the students (in fact, I did not event notice, so they did not bother me the least) better than with crap music (no escape here, and no way not to notice it) ;) Non music in a NoShoW event, isn't it quite normal after all?

Hayes,

I registered as I dod not plan to come, but I eventually did turn up. I guess that rules me out for the next NoShoW DriNk wich is fine because if I'm ruled out and show up, I'll abid by the rules, wouldn't I?

Everybody who's not young anymore is middle-aged!!!!! And someone in the 30s is NOT YOUNG ANYMORE! Young means skating in half-pipes, listening extremely loud music to annoy your parents, see what drugs might do to your body, don't care about tomorrow because there's no future anyway ...

Katja don't forget to mention that it was yourself who ordered the very last drink for Nat (whatever it was). Now I know that was coldly calculated and not unintelligent ... as yourself ended up drinking it. But anyhow thanks for sharing it with me, I was as well still thirsty.

And where I finally did not show up was:

the next morning in my office before 11h30 haha.
