Hi. I will be going to Italy next month. Beginning in Florence, then to Bologna, then Verona/Padova and then on to Venice. Staying about 2 weeks (start: 06 May). Any links or travel tips on:
- small towns and sites not to miss
- great restaurants to try
- best way to explore these and nearby places
(I do not need info on hotels/villas - that is already taken care of).

Try to go to Teatro la Fenice while in Venice if you have enough time and if everything is not sold out.

Hi,
in Bologna you can go to see the oldest University in Europe and in Padova you shouldn´t miss the Sant?ntonio church and Prato della Valle, the biggest square.
close to Padova you can see the Colli Euganei mountains and go to Monselice, to the 7 little churches, Este, Petrarca..lovely medioeval villages.
Enjoy.

So, i hear you'll be starting the journey in florence ..
I've been living in tuscany for 4years before moving here and there are some spots that you can't miss!
Florence itself is great, but if you are in the area you HAVE to stop in
- Pisa (half a day for a quick visit might be enough) .. to check out Piazza dei Miracoli and the tower, in it's also worth just walking around the S.mAria area and the borgo, and have some lunch around Piazza dei Cavalieri, or Piazza Dante (asbolutely beatifull).
- Lucca is really nice as well and if you go and visit walking along (litteraly on TOP of) the old city walls is a no miss
- Beach and Sea wise ... from pisa and lucca you can check Tirrenia or
the best sea in the area is just south of Livorno (Rosignano).
- Best night life/clubbing/posh and fancy area is Viareggio and Forte dei Marmi (beach side) .. it's the fanciest beach nothern then the costiera amalfitana on the east side.
- Nicest quaint town, best wines, and places were to eat some really good 'typical' food are: Livorno for the seafood (caciucco)
Siena and San Gimignano for the chianti, and the meat!!
S.Miniato for the Tartufo (truffles??) when it's the right season.
This should give you enough choices on what to do around florence for an extra day.
