As a Portuguese one place good for what you described is Vilamoura which is a quite nice place (Vilamoura Marine, Quinta do Lobo, Golf, Beach).

And in September it should not be so crowded.

let me think, Sardinia is very nice and poshy :) you can also try spain stay in costa brava enjoy the beaches and partying if you want in 2hrs you are in barcelona for shopping and good resturants. there are also very good bars and clubs. if need adventure you can go to portoaventure which is very good fun. if you are a group you can also rent villas with a pool near the beach

Thanks a lot for the info you gave me, i'll check this out. Sounds great, and someone else told me about Vilamoura Marine too... Are this places far away from the main cities like Lisbon and Faro? I wouldn't mind a quick visit there as well.

Adrian you're great. I'd love to visit the Costa Brava. Very good idea, i'll consider it... Thanks! As for Sardinia maybe it is a bit too poshy for what i'm looking for, i need a break, even if i'm aware it's worth a visit... Sooner or later!

I´ve been to Nice, Cannes, Antibes, St Tropez all of them are nice and there are also some small islands.

I could also recommend you a great island Formentera, you should go to Ibiza first and than take the boat, it takes about one hour.

Whatever you decide for, have a great holiday.

Hey Zuzana, I often go to Ibiza and went to Formentera a couple of times for a day or two. The island is really magic, but i'm afraid i could get bored spending there an entire week. As for south france, i'm really interested in it.

One week of sun, beach, coctails, walks, nice spanish men, possibility to travel to other islands, how can you get bored in Formentera?

I plan to go to New York and then maybe to Bali

Hi Ottavia, coming from Sardinia I don't know many better place for a week of relax, great sun, all day long on the beach, and of course a bit of nightlife too. But i can just offer you a flat to rent, fully equipped and garden as well, not even 1 km from the beach so that you could walk or cycle to. And it's not in a poshy place. Have a look on google. the place is called posada, tiny village, medieval tower eith lovely old town, kilometres of white sandy beach. 

if you haven't decide yet, it might be an option:-) direct fly with easyjet geneva-olbia.

you should go to Parga! just like you want it to be. wonderful town/village good beach, nice resorts, nice restaurants, nice bars but still relaxed, sophisticated and absolutly beautiful! 

Also consider Alicante in Spain. Not too big, not too touristy but still warm that time of year, relatively cheap, you can go to the city beach if you want people around you or to San Juan beach if you want to be by yourself. Easy Jet flies freom Geneva to Valencia, 1h away.

Cote d'Azur is very nice in September: still hot, but less people, small nice towns to visit, excellent food, you can stay in Nice with its restarants, promenade d'Anglais and restaurants, bars and travel a litlle bit around,

and it is so close!

I would go to Cyprus Paphos - all the things you mentioned you can find them in Paphos - Happy Holidays

hugging the croatian coast, or spain gibralter area, even the canals in france.

Thats away from tourists, relaxing and stopping in ports/marinas for good food and night life

you could learn to sail or simply have someone sail for you.

San Teodoro (Sardegna) is perfect for the type of holiday you are looking for.

Near San Teodoro you can find the best beaches, good restaurants, you can have a nice walk at evening after dinner, good disco/pub...

But you need a car to visit the most beautiful places near San Teodoro.
