I'm going to California next wednesday, and I've to be in Los Angeles from thursday to saturday for a card tournament. Then my girlfriend comes too, and I'm not to sure of the best choice:
- Stay in LA for 6 nights. The city doesn't look so great actually, but with the parks (Universal studio, maybe disneyland) and the beaches, plus basketball if i get lucky and can find a ticket for the lakers one week is maybe not too long.
- Rent a car, and see something else in the region.
Any suggestions to what would be the best to do?

Don't get the metro from the airport to the centre unless you want to feel scared!
Universal is quite good and fairly entertaining. There is enough there to do for the day. Hollywood is essential but not thrilling. If you get bored you can always head to Disneyland ;) I stayed in the magic castle hotel which is a street away from hollywood. But the city is so spread out you really need a car. The farmers market is probably worth a visit especially if you have been in switzerland a bit to long.
