Car Rental Geneva/Switzerland
Is there any place to get a cheap rental car for only a few hours? Say, for a trip to Ikea or the Aubonne outlets? I dont need a full day... just curious if they have some system set up like in Paris.

Hi,

Check out www.mobility.ch As a member you can reserve a car at a moments notice online or if you've missed your last train (as I did on many occasion) call them up and find out where an available car is. Only downside is you pay for both time and Km so depending on where you live, a trip to Ikea could be costly. The up side is you get a discount at Hertz and Avis.

Liz,

Not sure what system they have in Paris, but here Mobility.ch is indeed your best bet. But an even better bet is to borrow a car from a friend or from someone on glocals.

You're welcome to borrow mine for an afternoon.

Hi, I tried registering online with them 2 weeks ago, but got no response since that time. Sent them a message, again - no response. Does anybody know how long it takes to get hear from them? And what are the further steps?

It's sometimes (but not always) cheaper to rent from the French side of Geneva airport than the Swiss side.  If you rent from Hertz use a discount code (CDP no) The Air France one is 963122.  In trhe Pacquis near Migros there is a place offering cars for I think 69 francs a day

Yes, right - But if you damage the car somehow (even no clear rules which damage they charge) or have an accident you pay 1000 CHF yourself....

Sorry, I was talking about the car rental in Paquis (near to the Hotel Edelweiß; Migros and Sixt) not about Hertz in France.
