Carnival @ Venice Suggestions

Hello,

My friends and I are looking into driving to Venice for Carnival. But we found out that we have to take ferry into Venice and leave our cars parked somewhere else.

I was wondering if anyone has experience driving to Venice for Carnival before that can provide some helpful suggestions + tips. Or if you think going by train would be a better choice?

Many thanks in advance :)

Hi Nicky,

This link will help you, there is a section called car parks in venice and the site gives you  links to enable you to choose the best option for you.

Personally I would take the train however trenitalia aint as reliable as it should be so it's a judgement call really. You can take a train from Geneva (Swiss train) to Venice so that is an option worth thinking about, if I remember correctly this particular train goes via Milano Centrale then heads on to Venice. If you have the demi tarif card you can get a good deal with SBB.

Hope this helps, Enjoy Venezia!

I've driven, taken the train and I've flown in. My personal preference is to fly in on the cheapest flight you can find and take a water taxi or public transport over to the city. Driving is risky and in addition to your fuel costs, tolls will run you about 75 Euros (each way), ...unless something has changed in the past couple years.

BC is absolutely correct in her eval of Trenitalia. My last ride during Carnival (4 years ago) went through Milan and the return Milan to Geneva trip was 4 hours late leaving Milan. Might be a better route, but I haven't even considered the train, since then. Enjoy!
