Does a Swiss passport holder need a tourist visa for Jordan?

I am travelling to Jordan for the first time in March 2016. I am taking Austrain airlines from Zurich to Amman. From various website I lloked up, some say I need to apply a visa in person in Berne before I travel, some sa I can get a local visa upon arrival, I called Austrian airlines, thez are not sure about Swiss nationals as they informed me that EU passport holders need to have a visa in the passport before travel. Can someone shed some light on this? I appreciate very much your reply. Also any tips on travelling alone (female) in Jordan?

Best regards

Helena

Hey there,

the best way is to call the embassy of the destination country, here's the details you need to know:

just call them and ask if you need a visa or not...

@Helena: As I understand, Swiss nationals can benefit from a visa on arrival at the airport.

I would recommend printing out the following before arriving at the airport if you do not get a definite answer from the embassy (also try calling the Paris consulate, they were quite friendly when I called with the same question).

http://international.visitjordan.com/generalinformation/entryintojordan.aspx

https://www.timaticweb.com/cgi-bin/tim_website_client.cgi?SpecData=1&VISA=&page=visa&NA=CH&AR=00&PASSTYPES=PASS&DE=JO&user=KLMB2C&subuser=KLMB2C

I would also recommend that you carry all proofs of resources with you, such as bank statements, documents showing your credit card limit etc.

Finally, as in front of any immigration official, respond with a clear, truthful and precise answer with the understanding that it will take as long as it will take.

Enjoy Jordan, its wonderful sights, people & all the food!
