My wife and I are going there in the same period (and to elsewhere in Scotland), and I've been there once before. Not an expert, but I'll tell you what I know.
We just found a nice hotel through booking.com. If you're used to Geneva prices you'll be pleasantly surprised with the prices. We've got a nice non-chain 4-star hotel for 90 GBP per night.
In terms of location aim for something between central station and George Square (which is the main shopping/nightlife area). The centre of Glasgow is not big so if you're at a central location you can do everything by foot.
I can't really help you with restaurants, we still need to sort that out ourselves.
If you have some time to travel around, you may consider:
* Loch Lomond (large lake near Glasgow)
* Stirling (town nearby, with great castle and several monuments
* Arran (small island)
* Edinburgh (deserves a trip on its own, but has to be on any list of Scotland sites)

Thanks Edward... will definately check it out..
Genevorine - either stay in the city centre and make that your main focus and enjoy the various restaurants and bars, art galleries and museums, For example, get on the Metro and head to the trendy West End (my birthplace - Hillhead).
For accommodation in Central Glasgow, check out the Copthorne Millenium on George Square. If you're wanting something cheap, you can't go far wrong with a Premier Inn (also just off George Square).
Or alternatively.....
Hire a car and get out of Glasgow and see the countryside, iincluding Sterling, Loch Lomond (Balloch, Drymen, Balmaha, Luss) and walk the Highland Way (just up the road from my Dad's :-), and climb the "Conic" (big hill) - if you're feeling fit!!
Enjoy and don't forget your brolly! :-)

DING DONG, INCORRECT. Loch Lomond is, in fact, a large loch.
If you're especially interested in scotch, may I recommend Glengoyne Distillery: http://www.glengoyne.com/scotch_whisky_distillery/

Yeah fair enough.
Thanks for the distillery info - I was looking for one for my own trip and this one fits quite nicely in our schedule.
