Grand Canyon - hike to the canyon floor
The claim is it is a gratifying combination of personal challenge and almost spiritual quest. It's deep, it's steep and, for much of the year, it's hot. Elevation at the rim -about 7,000 feet on the south side and more than 8,000 feet on the north.
So no stroll in the park.
It is not that I am an organised person (am happily being organised by the person providing me with below links...), but to go down to the floor requires permits and lodging booked many months in advance...Apparently May 08 is already booked out... and there is snow on North Rim till end of May...
They take bookings on 1st of every month for same month of every year. Will be trying for next June.
Thus I post this now as should anyone be interested in joining, knowing more... have tips or advice... please let me know.
Plan to spend a few nights in Las Vegas too.
Plan to stay here - http://www.grandcanyonlodges.com/Phantom-Ranch-704.html
