Is there anyone who travels very early in the morning from Evian/Thonon area to the vicinity of Geneva Airport please? We need a one-off lift for a very early flight on 12 May. Have tried all reasonably priced hotels in the airport area but there must be a convention on, as they are all full so this is not possible. Flight leaves at 07.00 for Tel-Aviv so we have to be there no later than 05.45. Long shot, but one never knows..... Thanks in advance.

You could always get a taxi. These are very expensive here but perhaps there is one or two companies that are not so bad. If you manage to discover something like this I might be interested to know as well...

We have looked into this: the cost of a private taxi/car is as much as the cost for two people on the EasyJet flight!!!

Could cross the lake and stay in Nyon or somewhere like that and get the first train in or hire a car and drop it off at the airport?

Depends where you live I suppose. I would say I live quite far from the airport and I paid 50 franks for the taxi from the airport. I just picked up the one parked at the airport which I am sure is much more expensive than something that could be found online. I dont think I have ever seen even easy jet flight as cheap as 25 franks all inclusive per person to somewhere. In other words, it might be possible to find a taxi ride for 20-30 franks depending on where you live. Just phone them up and try to negotiate the price.

The Median hotel near the border on the French side is 30mins walk from the airport. It's 50€-60€ for a room. However, don't count on getting taxi service in Ferney. It's horrible - sometimes you can get to one of the two taxis servicing the greater Gex area, but I usually walk to the airport or take the bus.

Oh I just read your post again and foudn you live in Evian. That is a bit far I guess, so it could be quite expensive.

This site offers you a taxi fare of approx 6 companies for your journey. Just fill in the information I used Evian to Geneva and it gave me the names of taxi companies listed for my area.

When you get the numbers call them, give them the specific details of where you are and then at least you will have a better idea of cost, of course this is only if some glocals member doesn't offer to rescue you. ;-)

Thank you for this response: the cost of the rooms has now rised to a minimum of €65 and unfortunately the hotel has dreadful reviews [to be avoided at all costs]. In view of this, think we shall be passing..................
