I stayed at 2 hotels in Zurich - both are very close to the Central train station, and both are decent.

Hotel Montana - a bit more expensive and a bit better.

Hotel Walhala - a bit cheaper, but also doable.

Zurich is a very cool city and I hope you enjoy it.

closer to hallenstadion are the swissôtel and the coronado.
in the city near main railway station i'd recommend hotel du théâtre or hotel bristol.
by s-train it takes only 10 min. from main station to oerlikon (messe/hallenstadion).

I agree with Oded, Walhalla and Montana are very central.

On the other hand if you want something close to Hallenstadion, Swissotel is good, but expensive. Try formula1 (link below) which is close to Hallenstation and cheaper too..
