I have just discovered Thursday's a day off and so with a one day bridge, there's a 4 day weekend coming up. I've been looking all morning for accommodations in Amsterdam, and hard to believe - all the rooms in all the decent hotels in the entire city are sold-out. Anyone, Dutch or non Dutch have any idea why? Or, does anyone happen to know a well kept secret, a hidden hotel somewhere there?

It looks nice and the location's great, but unfortunately it is fully booked.

Try one of the Airport Hotels
That is what I did last Easter when I could not get a room.
The trip to Amsterdam Station is about 20mins and costs about 3-4 Euro from memory.
Just check the last trains for when you need to get back or get a taxi if you are coming back late.
Cheers

I've given up on Amsterdam, it's just not working out but it turns out to be ok - I'm not going anywhere! I'm now stuck with loads of work instead :-(
