We spent 4 days in Collalbo {Klobenstein}. Wonderful scenery, excellent walking, cable-car, not too expensive [except in Bolzano and Merano where it is very dear].
Recommend Sonnenresidenz which is self-catering with large, airy, sunny rooms.
Madeira is also lovely, but it is almost essential to hire a car to get about and the roads are very steep and twisty.
