Cusco is a great city for history and then has a brilliant club night life culture with groovey 'whizz you around' dancing and strong cocktails - we saw the dawn in several times there... which was fun until we had to go and trek a hill a few hours later to see an inca ruin ;-)

Puno - Its fab seeing the people living on the lake with reeds just outside of Puno and lake titicaca is beautiful.

We walked the previous 7 kms before the check in station at the macchu pichu trail and it is a great introduction to village life along the river and train track.

Hot springs in macchu pichu are ace - especially if you have just trekked the whole route!

We also went to bolivia and that was beautiful - copacabana and la paz.

Lima is a bit of a dump so don't plan to spend much time there as other places are much better.

You will have a great time!

Hi I agree with Tash's comments. You have to book Macchu Piccu hike well in advance because they limit numbers during busy periods. Also if you dont have much time its good to be organised as there is lots to do and see.
The outskirts of Lima are good but the centre is a dump. I recommend very highly speaking to Journey Latin America for tips on flights and transfers or even tours. Look them up on Google. Theyre a great company.
Cheers
Simon

Don't miss spending a night on Isla Taquile, on Lake Titicaca. One of my best travel experiences ever!! Most people only go for half a day, so that when the last boat leave, it feels great to be alone with the island's inhabitant who welcome you in their homes (no hotel on the island)... aaaaaaahhh...makes me want to go back (-;
Also I could lend you my travel guide, it's a "Footprint", in English, very detailed and helpful. Let me know!!
