I am planning a short trip to Rome and any information will be useful :) We'll be going for 3 days max and would like to know:
1) The best mode of transport.
2) Accomodation.. bnbs wud be preferred. Ours is a vacation on a budget. :P
3) Places to see in rome.
Meanwhile, I am trying to find info too.. and will post it here for others who may want to visit too :)

to hung out, eat, etc: the drunkenship at campo di fiori, trattoria cicciabomba in via del governo vecchio, close to piazza navona, something more classy for a drinkor dance in "la maison" in a viccolo behind piazza navona, unfortunately don't remember the name, a nice caffe del fico in piazza del fico, and the pizzeria in front is unforgettable, a nice pizzeria also is "gisto" in piazza augusto imperatore, several aperitivo places also in that same square. a very nice place for brunch is in viccolo del cinque in trastevere,taking from piazza trilussa, going to the viccolo and then first on your right hand side. these are a few hints...turistiv places everybody knows right?

and in Trastevere don't miss a pizza at "l'obitorio" viale Trastevere and a drink at the bar S Calisto, piazza S Calisto. (Cited in Geoff Dyer's novel Brixton Bop)
In my opinion the best way to move around is... walking.
If you get there by plane remeber there is a flat taxi fee from the airport to the city centre: 30 euros from the Ciampino airport and 40 from Fiumicino. Ask for it before the journey starts otherwise you have to pay the meter fee that is always more expensive.
