Brave girl, trust me South is much safer and cooler ( in all sense), suggested accomodation: try the YWCA ( Ernakulam), you can also stay ( if you wanna spend lavishly) at the Casino Group ( http://www.cghearth.com/ ) . Taxi guys are normally reasonable in the south. Say if you take the cab for a day ( say a few hundred kms) you are probably be paying 2000-2500 Rs ( roughly 50 CHF). If you have some time for a drink ( can be Green tea as well ;- ) ) can meet and give you soem tips. I have been living here for around 13 years ( not a lucky number though), but i come from Pondicherry ( South east of India)... Cheers

Spent more than 2 months in Tamil Nadu this summer... Definitely check out Pondicherry, Kanyakumari, and pick a couple of those ancient temples (maybe Ooty too, depends on how long you have there...)  Are you a vegetarian? It might be a problem since many places in Tamil Nadu (rural) don't serve meat...  I can give your suggestion on restaurants in Chennai in case you miss meat as i did...

Are you traveling alone?  I was using auto rickshaws most of time... never used cab other than from/to the airport...  Have to bargain!  South is much safer and conservative...  Recommend YWCA, but can be cold at night if you go to mountain areas such as ooty.  Oh i miss the jackfruit!

Hi,
I'm going to Chennai, India at the end of April, and want to find a reasonable flight. Do you have any tips of which travel agents in Geneva deal with India?
Thanks a lot!
Michelle
