Hi all!
I am wondering if anyone has any recommendations for places to travel to on the weekends. I can't leave before 6pm on Friday and have to be back late sunday night. Other than that, I'm totally open to going anywhere and everywhere. Does anyone have any recommendations on where to go? I have been to Budapest, Paris, Interlaken, most of Spain, Prague, Munich, Salsburg, Rome, Cinque terra, and Tuscany.
Thanks for any feedback!

Hi Felicia,
If you want to have a nice day in Switzerland you can visit Lucern - it is a small and beautiful village and there are interesting things to see. I was there one month ago and in the train station they have a very nice tourist center where they can speak English and can explain you what to do and where to go.
You can make a tour in the center and around the city, have a nice walk along the river until you reach the Transport Museum. I couldn't visit it but I have heard that it is very interesting and it will take you around 2 hours to see it.
If you have a general abonament for the trains you can come back to Montreux by Golden pass train - it is 5 hours, but it is beautiful - the train passes through beautiful mountains and unfrogetable scenes!
Just be aware that if you want to do everything in Lucern you probably will have to stay there for the night, if you want to take the Golden Pass after.
If ou decide to do that - enjoy your weekend!!
Greetings,
Nina

I liked Lyon and Marseille. Other than that... Barcelona is nice (depending on what you like though).
Any preferences? What do you wanna do? What are you favourite cities? There`s so many places to go from Geneva..

Thanks everyone for the tips!!
I am looking to travel a little bit in
Switzerland as well as other countries. I lived in Spain for 5 months so I would rather
explore other places. I am going to Montreaux this weekend and looking forward to that.
I am open to flying or taking the train, whatever is easiest. Basically I'm looking
for fun places to go that may have fun things to do. I am not so much interested in
museums (I know that's bad... but just being honest... I spent 1 hour in the Louvre and that was
enough for me :) ). My favorite cities are Madrid, Barcelona, Prague, Cinque Terra, Italy,
and Lagos, Portugal.
Thanks again!

Hey Felicia,
If you plan to travel in Switzerland a few times by bus and train I would suggest you to get the 'abonnement demi-tarif'. Have you been to Amsterdam or South of France (Provence or Côte d'Azur)?
Cheers

you don't need to go that far away, try a visit to zurich. the city is like nowhere else in switzrland and is probably the livliest city in switzerland. everyone says "zurich rocks" never a dull moment. zurich is more like a metropolitan european city, more so than geneva or bern or lausanne.

A bit of a summer thing but I like Lacanau in France, near bordeaux. Nice beaches. The sand dunes in nearby Arcachon are worth a visit. Just back from Budapest - great for fast food and spas!
