Hello to all!
I have been in Geneva a couple of months and have not really managed to get out and about to see anything outside of the city. I have therefore decided to spend next weekend outside of the motherland (aka Geneva).
My first question is about hiring a car, is there a particular place I should look at to get one from (I live in the city but would like to be able to get one at the airport and drop it off there if possible???).
My second question is which local places (hour and a half max) are worth travelling to to spend a couple of days??
Any guidance is greatly received oh mighty glocals...

It's a nice "postcard" place, A lovely medieval village on top of a hill, with a castle you can visit, and tons of good restaurants.
Don't miss the Giger museum, presenting lots of his work, in an incredible ambiance (if you like the style).
If you go there without eating the famous Meringues a la Creme de Gruyeres for dessert, it's a sin. Other typical food are Fondue, and the Sander, a perch-like fish from the Gruyere lake, insanely good with the Sauce a la Diable (pepper sauce) or anyway... Try the game in autumn (boar, deer, hare)
There's also a lot of wandering possibilities around the place.
Enjoy your week-end, wherever you choose to go!
Syd.
