I used to go back and forth from Paris to Geneva pretty much every weekend. You can book a train (about 3.5 hours direct) through www.tgv.fr for about 120 chf round trip. (if memory serves). You can usually find good prices even last minute if there is space available.

Colette: I'm with Nancy on this one. Train is the way to go, and especially to Paris and to Italy. There's direct trains to Paris and to Milano, they're affordable, and you can book 5 min in advance...(-:

Check our Swiss trains here

Have a nice trip...(-;

When booking TGV to France, doing it with the French Tourist Bureau SNCF right near the Cornavin Railway station , is definitely advantageous. They often have deals not available at the CFF counter. Same deals are available at the Eaux-Vives SNCF station. In both cases you can pay in SF or €.

I know that you may need to cross the French border with tram for example, and then take a local French bus... (not done by myself though).

Helena.
