cheapest way to get from GVA to London?
 Hi guys,
Can anyone give some advice on whether or not it's cheaper to fly or take a train from Geneva to London in December?
Thanks,
Mak

Almost certainly cheaper to fly as taking the train involves buying two tickets + will take a lot longer. However, when booking tickets I suggest you check all airlines ie. Swiss, BA, EasyJet and CityJet (part of AirFrance into City airport). Hope this helps a bit...better to book the flights early for better prices, especially if EasyJet. Prices have notched up the last few months as airlines have mothballed some planes due to the recession. All the best, Matt

Get in touch with the big holiday companies that organise skiing (Thomson, First Choice, Crystal) etc., as during December they will be flying out some staff  from London to Geneva, but not flying anyone back until the season starts, so will probably have cheap seats.  Otherwise, as suggested Easyjet and book it now (not sure if you're aware, but only fly into Heathrow, Gatwick or City - "London" Luton and "London" Stansted are not London!!

EasyJet (if you can handle fighting for a seat!) is about £27 each way if you book well in
advance. Just beware of all their add-ons! Speedy Boarding is a joke and a rip-off

The train is definitely a no-go.  It takes all day and you have to change stations in Paris, which means a hassle on the Metro or the risk of being ripped off by a taxi driver for a short distance.

I agree with all the airline suggestions already made.  Shop around, although I usually end up on Easyjet.

However, there is an overnight coach service which starts at the Coach Station behind the English Church in rue du Mont-Blanc.  It's called "La Gare routière" and you can google their website.  Not the easiest to navigate but you'll get an idea of the cost, frequency, etc.  The booking office is cramped but the staff do speak adequate if somewhat limited English.

I'm told it's good value if you can bear the overnight journey.  A plus is that you can take a fair amount of luggage.

All the best, Ritchie

we just looked and it seems CityJet do not fly out of Geneva. This is a great pity. Do you know something we don't? Or can we simply not find it? TIA
