Seoul is so big that you will spend day visiting historical site and huge streets and shops. You have to go at night in a very nice disco called The Circle. Amazing place!!!! You will feel strange. Have fun

hi, seoul is a huge and crowded city, so you won't be bored for sure.. except you will meet very few people on the streets who speak english, so it's not an easy place to travel on your own. :)
don't know where you are staying, but i would recommend insadong (this is like a street in the old town where they have small shops selling traditional korean stuff and restos with traditional food and tea), kyongbok palace (one of the palaces during the chosun dynasty) in the center of the city.. and if you are interested in buddhism, there is a buddhist temple called bongeun-sa in seoul. for night life, i heard that hongdae-ipgu (near hong-ik university) is booming these days.. or apgujung-dong, on the other side of the river.
can't think of any recommendable day trips outside of seoul.. but perhaps you might want to go down to kyung-joo (about 2hrs 30 mins - 3 hrs south by train from seoul) where there are quite a few historic sites and temples.. (never been there myself though..). again, i am not sure whether anybody would speak english at the train station.! oh, and you definitely have to benefit from the good, cheap food - try the korean barbeque and fresh seafood.! hope this helps, and bon voyage.
