Hello,

Anyone know any reasonably-priced, centrally situated hotels/hostels in Tokyo?  Would be for July.

Many thanks Cool

I stayed at "The B" in roppongi, which was not a bad area regarding location (most places I wanted to go were not too far), I was quite happy of that choice.

I was also at the Mercure hotel in Ginza, but it was more expensive, and in the middle of all the luxury shops, so maybe not what you're looking for. It's close from the railway station however.

I also stayed in a Hotel in the Akasaka/Roppongi Area. Can't remember the name so the post is to say that in Akasaka there is a metro station that has about 4 different lines. My hotel was a couple of hundred meters from the station. You can get anywhere you want very easily. It is also a relatively central area. Do a Google search with Hotels +tokyo +akasaka and you should find some options in your price range.

Hi there, if you really want something reasonably priced, take a look here:  www.sakura-hotel.co.jp  Depending on your itinerary, you can also stay at a weekly apartment which is what I do, but that's only interesting if you are in Tokyo without moving elsewhere.  By the way, I can say that almost all of the places are safe & clean so no worries about that.  Good luck :)

I think you must've looked in the wrong place... "Sakura Hotel has 4 types of hotel room raging from ¥3,150 to ¥8,400: single"... that is 31$ not 400$ hahaha

Try the Villa Fontaine chain. They are between 80 and 120 CHF for a single room and very comfortable. Mainly in the Tokyo region, but also in Kyoto. There you will find a semi-traditional hotel with futon, mats etc:

Have fun, it is a cool city!

Try Sakura Ryokan (http://www.hostelworld.com/hosteldetails.php/Sakura-Ryokan--Ueno-Asakusa-Iriya-/Tokyo/13438 ).

It's in a japanese style: sober, clean, calm, and you would enjoy staying in a traditional hostel, sleeping on a futon lying on tatamis...And a traditional bathroom on the 1st floor... And it's cheap!

It's in Ueno, close to Ueno Sation and Asakusa. You may need people to find it as streets don'have any name, but they will kindly go with you to the hotel.

Hi,

Try http://www.hoteledoya.com/ I was there a couple of years ago and it's a ryokan, a traditional hotel with everything you need, very clean and at a very reasonable price.  If you take this option, i can give you some tips to get to the hotel from the airport.

Tokyo is nice but if you have time og to Kyoto as well.

Bon voyage.
