Arranging accomodation from abroad in advance of moving to CH

Hi,
would anyone have any advice on the safest way to arrange accomodation for zurich in advance of moving there. I have been mainly looking on airbnb and some classifieds. My main worry is how to reserve the accomodation in advance from abroad in a secure manner.

how long are you planning on needing the accomodation for? flats tend to go very quickly here in zurich so securing one from abroad will be very difficult indeed as if a good place comes on the market there will be scores of people applying for a viewing within a few hours. homegate and comparis websites can give you good ideas of prices for different areas but i'd suggest maybe a hotel or serviced appt if you can on arriving then visit what you find once here. thats what i did and got lucky with a nice place. for hotels i tend to use booking.com as they have some great prices that i haven't seen elsewhere.

hey Terry, when are you moving? I have an empty flat in November / December and could use a temporary renter in Horgen-Käpfnach and also one of my friends is moving out of her place in Erlenbach. What type of a place are you looking for and in which price category. You can email me if you are interested to angela.weinberger at gmail.com.

PS: There is also an add with pictures in the classifieds.

Tina,

Sorry I can only offer Nov and Dec and the commute is probably more than 30 minutes from my apartment. If you email me I can give you contact details of my friend who is looking for a new tenant for her apartment in Erlenbach.
