There's usually (but not always) an English speaker at Gidor in Sihl City, 1st floor. It's drop in only, no reservations, but you could try your luck.

The best hair cut I got there was actually the one time where I was forced to 'speak' 'German', this was entirely down to the skill of the hairdresser, the potential was there for a disaster!

Well i know there are at least 3 english speaking hair dressers at LeSalon in the centre...the adress: Nägelihof 1, it is near the Grossmünster. I am going to go there, so i have talked with them and i know for sure they speak english :)

Not sure if you found a hairdresser yet but anyways I have been recommended a really great mobile hairdresser. He is Australian who's been living here for quite a while now and he is known to be quite affordable and great at his job! I also think if you get a group of girls together he will give you some package deal/ discount....

I am not sure how convenient this would be but Zabeni in Waedenswil is brilliant - run by two Italian brothers - all speak very good English and are very charming, plus I got a brilliant root colour repair job after a disastrous experience with a local salon.  Their website is:

My service is totally professional, offering a fully salon experience. I bring all the neccessary equiptment, you must do nothing other than sit back relax and be pampered. I bring towels, profi wash basin (no upside down in the sink) this is totally like having the salon come to you.

Perfect for mums with kids, groups looking for a little hair and wine party, weddings, ladies group get togethers and so forth... Late night apt after the kids are in bed are no problem...

Simply put if you find it difficult to get to the salon, why not have the salon come to you! I speak English + German so my service is open to expats + locals alike.
